Getting Creative with Quinn McDonald

Art and Soul Radio with Lesley Riley show

Summary:   Quinn McDonald had every intention of being an obedient child, a dutiful wife, and the mom who baked cookies for PTA meetings. Due to an unexpected wrinkle in the space/time continuum, that didn’t happen. In graduate school Quinn became fascinated with how people faced the changes that life washed over them. The daughter of immigrants, she had to know what formed the dreams for women who left everything they knew for an unknown, different life. Quinn was particularly impressed by the strength of the women who kept journals–the stories of countless women who stepped into the unknown, armed only with a sense of duty, adventure, and a pencil. From their lives she learned that we don’t FIND meaning in life, we MAKE meaning in life. That meaning-making sparks curiosity and interest in the journey we are on. So now, Quinn says, I am what I was meant to be–curious about life, restless but content. A writer, a creativity coach, a woman who rides a motorcycle across the Sonoran desert. All that shows up in her first book, Raw Art Journaling which we will be talking about today….and more!
