Summary: Tom Levenson - filmmaker and Prof of Science Writing at MIT - talks with science writer and journalist Russ Rymer on the occassion of his third book — science/medicine charged first novel novel, "Paris Twilight," published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Along the way, they talk about the nature of writing and the relationship of science to metaphor, to fiction and to art. Russ Rymer has contributed articles to the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, National Geographic, Harper’s, Smithsonian, Vogue, and Los Angeles Magazine, among other publications. His first book, Genie, a Scientific Tragedy, a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist and winner of a Whiting Writers' Award, was translated into six languages and transformed into a NOVA television documentary.
