Summary: Ross Raisin's first novel, God's Own Country, won him the 2009 Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award, the Guardian First Book Award, a Betty Trask Award and numerous other prizes. His second novel, Waterline, about a former shipbuilder grieving the death of his wife in Glasgow, was published to critical acclaim in 2011. His short stories have been published in Prospect, Esquire, Dazed and Confused, the Sunday Times, on BBC Radio 3 and in Granta. In this podcast, he spoke about how he evokes place and inhabits characters in his writing and the difference between his approaches to short stories and novels.
