Brazil's Landless People's Movement

Christian Aid Global show

Summary: Twenty years ago, a young couple called Orestes and Alcinda were living with their three young children in a makeshift black plastic tent, with no services or sanitary facilities, and cooking over a campfire, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the south of Brazil. Today, Orestes and Alcinda have their own home and their own farm, and are members of the cooperative that is Brazil’s largest producer of organic rice. Hear their voices and their remarkable journey in this podcast, made to celebrate small holder farmers and land rights for the poor, critical in global food production, as we get ready for the Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign's Big IF rally in Hyde Park on Saturday 8 June.
