Dr. Apovian is an Associate Editor of the Obesity Journal and is co-editor of the Obesity and Nutrition Section of Current Opinion in Endocrinology and Diabetes. SPECIAL GUEST: Silva A. Arslanian, MD, a pediatric endocrinologist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for more than 20 years, is an internationally recognized expert in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes in youth, obesity, insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome and metabolic syndrome in childhood. Dr. Arslanian is the Richard L. Day Endowed Professor of Pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Center at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, the principal investigator of the NIH-funded Diabetes Fellowship Training (T32) and Pediatric Diabetes Scholars Program (K12), and Director of Children’s Hospital’s Weight Management & Wellness Center.
