The Last Bison: Woodcutter's Son - Ballroom Sessions - AltarTV

KPBS Evening Edition | KPBS.org show

Summary: Part Fleet Foxes, part O’Death, but mostly indescribable, this is a standout roots folk band called The Last Bison. Formerly just Bison, they’re a seven-piece out of Virginia who mix traditional and modern folk influences for an end product as comforting as it is unsettling (sort of in the Tom Waits vein). 2013’s ‘Inheritance LP’ rivals anything in the genre’s recent memory while possibly carving out a genre of their own (“Distance” a personal favorite). So we invited the whole crew for a Ballroom Session, though only three could fit, so here’s Benjamin Hardesty, Amos Housworth and Teresa Totheroh performing an older one called “Woodcutter’s Son” unplugged in Austin, TX. ‘Inheritance’ is out now on Republic Records.
