About Smoking! with Arthur Meyer & Carlotta Craig

America Won't Shut Up show

Summary: Since the dawn of time, if you wanted to be cool, you smoked cigarettes. Unfortunately, over the last couple decades, some people and doctors convinced us that smoking is somehow NOT cool. This week, America finally said, "We're ready to smoke again! Smoking is Cool! AND THAT'S A FACT!" To get to the bottom of this trend, we'll first sit down with smoking historian and author of the new book, "Smoke: A People's History of Smoking," Professor Emeritus at Darmouth College, Nathan Garbage-Trash. Then, later in the show, we'll talk to teacher, mother, blogger and an expert on the art of picking up smoking again, Carlotta Craig. Also on this week's show, Jason shares some of his many past attempts at being cool, while Pat talks about his decision to not let his four-year-old daughter smoke. Of course, we have another visit from our puzzling friend, The Befuddler. And as always, we take a look at this week's top stories and twitter trends. All that, plus music from the Foo Fighters. This week, on America Won't Shut Up! Our guests this week are Arthur Meyer (@arthurmeyer13) and Carlotta Craig (marlboromom.blogspot.com). Arthur is a writer on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon which airs weeknights on NBC. Carlotta Craig is a fictional, racist character.
