Continuing conversation with Don Schneck about his father Ralph, who was a farm boy from Southern Indiana who always wanted to fly. He got his chance unexpectedly when called t service at the outset of World War II. Training in California and the Midwest he served the rest of the war as a pilot of a B24 Bomber flying dangerous missions all over the European Theater. He continued his service in the Army Air Corp and then the Air Force until retirement. Now 93 and living in California his son Don complied dozens of letters that his father wrote during the days and weeks of the war. These accounts are personal and poignant, the voice of a young man doing an amazing and heroic service.
