Summary: Since the Wright Brothers took flight in 1903, women have made a significant contribution to aviation. International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. A paid holiday in some countries, March 8, one month from today, is a day of gratitude, reflection and action. In some countries, men traditionally offer flowers to all the women that touched their lives. March 8 also marks the anniversary of the first female pilot license worldwide.
