Deaf to Lectures

Parenting Today’s Teens show

Summary: (Click title to listen)PODCAST SCRIPT: I’ve heard it said that the average teenager actually goes “deaf” after hearing about five sentences from a parent’s lecture. If you have teens in the house, you probably know what I’m talking about… that flinch in the shoulder, the eyes roll up into the skull …as they turn and leave the room! Hey, maybe you need a different approach.  If your teen goes “deaf” five sentences in… learn to condense your message.  Or, better yet, start with a question! Yeah, I know you want to correct bad behavior, but five- point sermons aren’t always effective.  Let them learn the way you learned… through asking questions and sorting through the answer on their own. When you change your approach… you might be surprised what your teen decides to hear!   ©2013 Mark Gregston www.parentingtodaysteens.org. Email: markgregston@heartlightministries.org.
