Fat 2 Fit #58 – Eat This Not That

Fat 2 Fit Radio show

Summary: How about another book review? This show in the feature section, we talk about the book Eat This Not That. It's premise is simple. Eat the foods on the left hand side of the book, and avoid the foods on the right hand side of the book. But, there's more to the book than just pretty pictures of so-so foods. Russ gives his review of the book. In the e-mails this week, Nicole writes in. She's trying to not "scarf down everything in sight". Also we received two e-mails with seemingly different problems. David and Laura both had large weight swings, one down 2 1/2 pounds, the other up 2 1/2 pounds. They're looking for answers. On the Web Report, Jeff found an article from the New England Journal of Medicine. They did a long term study on 811 obese patients. They were put on some of the different diets that you've probably tried. Low carb, low fat, high protein, etc. The findings may surprise you. Russ has an article about how losing weight may be the best thing for you if you develop Type 2 Diabetes. Possibly better than insulin therapy. Also in this episode, victory. What does victory smell like? Listen in and find out. Links Mentioned in the Show: Weight loss more effective than intense insulin therapy What's the best diet? Eating less food. (Time) Comparison of weight loss diets (NEJM) Recipe of the Week: Zucchini Hummus from listener Lybbe Homework: This week's homework has to do with goal clothing. When you lose some fat and want to show off to your friends or family, you don't plop down a scale and weigh yourself in front of them - you wear smaller clothing that shows off your smaller size. I know that 99% of our listeners will have a shirt or a pair of pants that is just a little too tight or uncomfortable to fit into right now. Use that clothing as another means to keep yourself motivated. Try it on on a weekly basis to really see your progress, but don't go to extremes. If you have a 44 inch waist, don't keep trying on a pair of pants with a 30 inch waist. Use some clothing that you want to fit into in 12 weeks, so maybe try a 42 or 40 inch waist. Keep this up until you reach your final goal clothing sizes. Listen here, or subscribe to automatically receive future shows.
