The Grand Old Game: In Peril

Baseball Digest LIVE Archive show

Summary: The Black Sox Scandal of 1919 nearly killed the game of baseball, until Babe Ruth and his majesty of the home run ball saved it. The Strike of 1994 obliterated the World Series, and it took McGwire and Sosa to bring the fans back. We know now that the 1998 Home Run Chase was a lie, and after the news that Alex Rodriguez has the stain of steroids on his once-brilliant career, we wonder: WHO WILL SAVE THE GAME NOW? Joining Hosts Mark Healey and Jim Cerny on Monday's "Baseball Digest LIVE" will be Dan Graziano, NY sportswriter and former president of the NY chapter of the BBWAA.
