A peer to peer rental website where people can rent items to and from each other. Being the first website of it’s type Steve gained alot of coverage quickly after the launch. With zero tech skills Steve managed to bootstrap the business with a tiny budget, learn on the job and used his marketing skills to get free prime time features in TV shows like A Current Affair. (no he wasn’t running from the camera!) Rentoid now has more than $50 million worth of items for rent. Items range from the humble lawn mower to uber luxury private jets. Steve is the anti-geek and he says most of his on line success has resulted from what he does off line, busting the myth that we need to be stroking at a keyboard 24 hours a day. This resulted in numerous business model changes and the largest part of rentoid success has been working within the rental industry and bringing independent operators on line.
