Episode 18 - Alison Monahan (The Girls Guide to Law School)

The Comedians at Law Podcast show

Summary: This week, Kevin and Alex have their inaugural turn together as podcasters on the eve of Martin Luther King Day and the 2nd term inauguration. Alex and Kevin announced the winner of the CAL Idol contest -- the very funny Joan Weisblatt, who will join the group onstage on February 6 at 8pm at Philadelphia's Helium Comedy Club. They also discussed a new proposal being discussed in the legal halls of power about allowing students to sit for the bar exam after their 2d year of law school. Then Matt takes over to interview Alison Monahan, the founder of the popular website, The Girls Guide to Law School whose tagline is: Get In, Get Through, Stay You. She explains how she came up with this idea, how she felt women faced a lot of pressures in law school and deal with them differently from their male counterparts and therefore needed a resource like this site. We also discuss her take on firm life for women and the balancing of family vs. trying to become a female partner. She also has sites LawSchoolToolBox.com and BarExamToolbox.com. She also lets us know about an upcoming conference in San Francisco...it's open to men, so fellas, the ratio will probably definitely be in your favor!
