Our guest today is Dr. Shabnam Bashir - a Breast & Colorectal oncosurgeon who has been the first postdoctoral Vattikuti Robotic Colorectal Fellow of India. She has the credit of being the first female organ-specific oncosurgeon of Kashmir to be trained in advanced Robotic surgeries. She has published extensively  & is a major proponent of the fact that lifestyle alternatives can keep us healthy for long. She is a Fellow of the Association of Colorectal Surgeons of India, Fellow Association of surgeons of India, Member of Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow UK, and member of many prestigious surgical organizations of India. Active in  Cancer awareness drives since 2017, she has touched thousands of lives through her various Cancer awareness talks at various organizations and reputed institutions including IIM Bangalore. On the website of WHO,  some key facts on Adolescent Mental health were: Mental health conditions account for 16% of the global burden of disease and injury in people aged 10-19 years.  Globally, depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. Suicide is the third leading cause of death in 15-19-year-olds. This inspired me to dedicate the next two episodes to Child & Adolescent Mental Health with Dr. Kaushik Roy who specializes in child & adolescent psychiatry. He sees patients from the age group of 5- 25 years. He is associated with St. Lukes University Hospital in Pennsylvania teaching fellow residents, medical students, mentoring psychotherapists & advanced practitioners.
