 Primetime: U.S Road Race Champion Jade Wilcoxson | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:13:00

2013 was a big year for Jade Wilcoxson. In her first year as a professional Wilsconson stunned many with her second place finish at the U.S Cyclcross Nationals. She went on to win the U.S. Road Race Championships, and then went on to win the Individual Pursuit title at the U.S Track Championships.  Wilcoxson will again be riding for Optum Health Pro Cycling in 2014, and is currently riding for the U.S National team in Europe.  Wilcoxson talks about how she started racing, what it's like to be a team leader, and how she juggles life as and entrepreneur, she is the founder of Pure Clean Powder, and professional cyclist.  We also play the entirety of our interview with mental training coach Dr. Kristin Keim.  Keim recently finished her dissertaion on athletes with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI's) and has been working with professional athletes mental approach to their sport for the past several years. Keim discusses some of the best practices and pitfalls to help develop a strong mental game for your cycling season.

The WCA was formed in 2013 with an intent to the advance the interests of professional women athletes withing cycling. WCA President Robin Farina is currently in Tuscon to help promote a new documentary by Kathryn Bertine, Half the Road, which was feature on Primetime early last year.  Robin began her cycling career over 10 years ago after graduating from the University of Tennessee. Robin is the 2011 National Road Race Champion and a 2012 Olympic long team member. Robin owns an elite coaching company, RF Training, where she trains cyclists and triathletes of all levels. She is also the is co-owner of Uptown Cycles in Charlotte, NC, one of the premier bike shop/training centers in the country. When not on the bike, Robin spends her time helping the Women’s Cycling Association grow and become a global movement for women’s equality in sport and life. She is also an avid yogi and loves all things outdoors! Primetime host Ted Burns speaks with cyclocross phenom Elle Anderson (California Giant - Specialized) and Beth Newell (USA Cycling Track Team) about their recent exploits. Anderson has been on a tear this cyclocross season. After winning the first several races on the ProCX Calendar Anderson became one of the few Americans to beat Katie Compton (Trek Cyclocross Collective) when she placed second ahead of Compton at the first day of racing at the Providence Cyclocross festival. Newell will be racing at the Los Angeles Grand Prix on November 22, 23, and 24. Newell recently won a silver medal at the World Cup track event held in Manchester.

Rahsaan Bahati is a criterium specialist and one of the few African-American cyclists currently working in the U.S. professional peloton. Bahati has strong ties to NorCal having raced for McGuire Racing when the team held a UCI license. Bahati is most well known for his U.S. Professional Criterium Championships in 2008 while he was on Rock Racing.   Bahati weighs in on a variety of topics including how he got started, past mentors, the benefits of finishing college, and how to ride a criterium.  Bahati also weighs in on his recent suspension, upcoming race schedule, and what music is motivating him these days..  Bahati is currently racing for Sharecare Cycling p/b WheelandSprocket.com. Ruth Winder FB Fan Page Ruth Winder (Vanderkitten) recently won the best young rider category at the Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic.  Ruth, only 19, came in 15th overall in Philly,  and her performance over the last year, which includes a win at the legendary Tour of Sommerville, earned her an invite to race with the US National team at the women's Giro later this summer.   Winder started racing in 2008 and quickly rose to prominence with a victory at US Nationals in Bend Or.  Since then Winder has steadily grown her palmares under the guidance of Olympian Harvey Nitz.  Winder is currently putting in big miles in  Boulder Colorado as she prepares for the Giro and talks training, racing, and her Olympic aspirations with Primetime host Ted Burns.

Phil Mooney discoverd cycling while attending college in Indiana.  While attending graduate school at UC Davis Mooney discovered that he wasn't just good, but had the makings to be professional.  Mooney turned professional in 2011 and spent his first year racing all around the UK and Europe with Team Raliegh.  After banging heads and handlebars around Europe Mooney joined the Team Jamis in 2012 and is currently in the second year racing professionally in the US. Mooney talks about the misery and ecstasy of racing in Europe, what it's like to start racing later in life, and how he found his way into cycling.  Mooney also discusses the injury that kept him out of the peloton for the early spring and how he's managed the mental and financial challenges a domestic professional faces when confronted with a serious injury.
