 PixelCast 91 – Buggered if Pixel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:25

Perhaps it's fate – we put the word 'bugger' in a PixelCast title and Ken goes on and recommends a bunch of free porn streaming sites. No, really. We're not putting any of them in the links below, but you can totally learn how to aggregate your, err, porn searching by listening to this particular show. So, yeah. There's that. And there's also games to go with it. Tim is also joined by the two James' to chat about some scant new releases, and then the overall influence of own inter-connectivity is going to influence gaming in the future. You know, because we're just learning about how crazy important this whole internet thing really is. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 90 – #PIXELAUS | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:00:57

On rare occassion, the stars align and the crew of Pixel Hunt gather together in person to record an episode of the PixelCast. There are only a few events that could percipirate such a gathering. And the first ever international PAX, held in Melbourne this past weekend, was one such rare event. Ken Lee is joined by Matt West, James O'Connor, Alex Walker, Jason Imms, and guests Tim Colwill and Terrance Jarrad on this special #PAXAus episode of the PixelCast. They talk about everything PAX: panels, exhibitions, the indies, Occulus Rifts, queues, and the broader gaming community. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 89 – Knockin’ on Pixel’s Door | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:26:28

Was there something that we maybe glossed over during PixelCast 88? Yes, indeed there was. Not that it was out fault, mind – you can pin the blame for that squarely on E3. That thing? Quite clearly, it's The Last of Us. In an attempt to perhaps over-compensate for this, Tim, Jess, David Rayfield and (eventually) James Pinnell have gone all out, and ran the typical PixelCast runtime into the round and through the earth with a post music-break spoiler discussion of the game. For those of you yet to play it through, though, there's still a half-hour-ish of regular talk of the stuff we've been playing recently up front. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 88 – New Pixels | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:44

Hey, kids, let us rap. Rap about a thing. That thing being that, well, sometimes when you release a podcast on a day, it doesn't mean that it was recorded on that very same day. Sometimes (err, almost all of the times) it was recorder two or more days earlier. And sometimes, Microsoft is really inconsiderate and back-pedals on a whole lot of stuff during that little intermission. What we have here, then, is our now oh-so-slightly-outdated E3 show, hosted by now second-time veteran, Jason Imms. It's not quite the usual format, either, as the whole show is dedicated to E3, rather than things that you could run to a store and buy tomorrow. He's joined by Dylan, Ken and Jimmy P as the crew discusses the games of show for the first half, and the big console plays for the second. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 87 – Sixteen Pixels | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 51:13

Imagine, if you will, all of the opening bits of pre-show content that the PixelCast has chewed through over the years. Now, imagine if all of these were sewn together by a spiteful witch to form some perverted take on a Hawaiian lei. Imagine that Tim were then forced to wear it over a fluorescent yellow t-shirt. Welcome to the eighty-seventh PixelCast. The focus of this episode was a trip back in time to the Christmas season of 1992, complete with cassette recorders, Dos games and episodes of Hey Dad! from before we knew that Mr. Kelly was actually kind of... yeaaah. Tim is joined by two James' and one Matt for this one, the second half of which is possibly spent trying to suppress childish giggling as much as anything else. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 86 – Micropixel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:17:20

Xbone! Xbro! Brobone! Microsoft has finally unveiled its new console and... this fortnight's PixelCast crew isn't yet fully sold. Yes, surprise, surprise, this podcast will be focusing on the XBox One. So, what can first time host Jason Imms, Matt Hewson and resident professor of ragamuffins Jickle bring to the table? They bring Hyper Magazine's famous angry-man editor Daniel Wilks, that's what! What follows is slightly more professional than usual snide cynicism about a certain newly unveiled VCR looking thing, as well as, oh, yeah – games that can be played now-ish. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 85 – Pixelsoft | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:08

Spoke too soon! After a couple of episodes that were happily trouble free, it turned out that our recording had decided to falter about twenty minutes before the end of the podcast. This may have been less troublesome had those of us equipped for backups not called in sick at the last hour, but as it stands – our topic is very brief! That topic being what's been going on with Microsoft's role with games over the past couple of years, and how this influences our expectation for the new XBox unveiling. OF this, you will get a few minutes. But this show is mostly about Tim, Jess and Matt talking about Blood Dragons and things. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 84 – Blood and Pixels | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:09:39

Violence! Can you feel it? SO MUCH VIOLENCE! There was a bit before the show where Jason grabbed Jickle by the head and then used this episode's unwitting host's skull to test his technique for opening beer bottles without having to remove the cap. Tim and Matt went to buy popcorn. So, um, yes. Jickle is hosting this one, and is backed up by the disrespectful crew mentioned above. It's his fault, really. After all, he's the one who decided that violence in videogames would make for a good topic once we were done talking about all of the violent games we had been playing. Yeah, Bioshock and Tomb Raider will probably continue influencing topic choice for the year to come. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 83 – Of Birds and Pixels | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:05

What's this? A podcast themed around Bioshock Infinite? How very shatteringly original. And what's this? Self-awareness over how over-done this is? Even more original, still! Whatever the case, PixelCast 83 marks our entry into spoiler territory, with the show's two halves used to happy, useful effect. Tim, Dylan and Jason are joined by Patrick Stafford for this show, the second half of which is a spoilers-allowed playground for all things Infinite. The crew can talk about anything! But then, what do these guys know? They had never even heard of Burning Rangers before... ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 82 – Pixel and Eve | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:48:35

We have just set a brand new record on the PixelCast, this being the absolute longest episode in our entire three year history. How fitting it is that such an epic show is spent discussing a game of equally epic scale: EVE Online. James Pinnell and Nathan Cocks swap war stories gained through their long respective histories with the game, while David Rayfield and I sit at their feet intently listening to their sage words. But first, the PixelCast panel tackle pork buns, gods and flying cities with the games we've been playing. So sit back, and enjoy this double scoop of absolute listening pleasure. With chocolate fudge and a cherry on top. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 81 – Pixel Review | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:49

Perhaps it's because this show's guest, Joab Gilroy of Game Arena, has associations with Telstra and, as such, the company didn't want to look bad. Or maybe it's because of some kind of dark magic. Whatever the reason, this PixelCast was recorded over a solid internet hook-up without any notable blemishes! This is nice, especially since it allowed more regular PixelCasters Tim, Dylan and Jimmy P to focus on talking about games rather than looking to see if anyone was about to drop from Skype. A lot of new releases get covered this show, as well as the rationale behind reviews and just what the hell was happening over at Polygon during that Sim City disaster. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 80 – Fear of a Dead Pixel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:07

Jess takes the lead on the panel for this latest episode of the PixelCast. And she is haunted by Nicholas Cage and other strange happenings. Most bizarrely were the dropped calls from Skype, as one after another went down, as though there was a sniper perched on high systematically killing each one of us. Even so, by the good graces of the Cage, we managed to push through and talk about the games we've been playing. We also talk about the recent Playstation 4 announcement, and what it really means to all of us. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 79 – Pixel Horizon (also known as The Phantom Tim) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:23

You'll have to forgive how skint these notes are this week, as this recording set a new standard for weird things happening. In short, something happened with Tim's microphone settings and his voice dropped to something akin to a mouse fart around the ten minute mark. The result of this is that Matthew and Jason, our relative new blood, unknowingly take on most of the show solo. Did we mention this was weird? They could still hear Tim just fine, but apparently the recording couldn't. As such, we've done our best to cut out the larger chunks of Tim's silence and, although the content is a little hard to keep track of, it is actually kind of amusing. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 78 – Pixel Something Something Robot | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:11:52

Every time I get on the helm, you can be sure that it'll involve giant stompy robots. But this episode is an extra special treat, as I get to chat up Mr Russ Bullock, President of Piranha Games, the studio currently developing MechWarrior Online. We talk about the past, present and future of the game and the studio. Plus we find out something we have in common relating to our first born children! But no episode would be complete without chatting about games, which we certainly do so at length. Returning after a long absence is our Friday columnist, Alex Walker! And joining us for the very first time is Jason Imms. They're a treat to listen to, which makes me wonder why we haven't had them on the PixelCast more. Rounding out the panel is Tim Henderson. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!  PixelCast 77 – Pixel the Future | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:10

Crazy as it may seem, 2013 is already in full swing and, as such, the PixelHunt crew is scrambeling to make predictions for the year to come before everyone blinks and misses it. This show is all about looking in both directions, past and future, as we dig up predictions made for 2012 and then put forward some fresh ones for 2013. Not that they all have to be sensible, mind. Tim, in particular, thought it would be a good idea to down a white-capped bottle of Chimay on an empty stomach as recording got underway and his co-hosts, Dylan, Ken and Matt insisted on... well, on being themselves. At least they were playing some games so that we could have something to talk about. ____________________________________________________ You can listen and download the podcast directly (.mp3 file) through the player below, but please also subscribe to the Cast on iTunes!
