Earlier this week news broke that Tar Heel head football coach Mack Brown had hired Phil Longo to be UNC’s new offensive coordinator. Longo joins the staff after being the OC at Ole Miss for the past two seasons, where his offense put up very strong numbers in the SEC. With Brown’s staff mostly complete, UNC fans have a multitude of questions about how UNC football may look going into the 2019 season from a schematic perspective, especially on how the air raid style of offense Longo brings will mesh with the 3-4 attacking style of defense defensive coordinator Jay Bateman employed at Army. This past weekend North Carolina's new head football coach Mack Brown hosted the largest official visitor recruiting weekend the Tar Heels have had so far this recruiting season. On hand were many of UNC's top remaining uncommitted prospects, as well as almost all of the recruits currently committed to the Heels. The event ultimately ended up being a resounding success for the recently assembled football staff, as Carolina came away with five new commitments as of this past Sunday morning. With Mack Brown being formally introduced on Tuesday as the new head football coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, a new chapter for UNC football is about to begin. When Inside Carolina broke the story on Monday that Brown was going to be named as head coach, the initial reactions from both the UNC fanbase and national media to the news were mixed. Concerns were raised about Brown’s age, as well as the fact that he had been out of coaching for several years. However, after a very impressive press conference where Brown looked energetic and spoke extremely optimistically about UNC football, many of the initial skeptics about his hire have been swayed. In this podcast, hosts Jon Seiglie and Tommy Ashley interview three former players who were all coached by Mack Brown – Chris Keldorf, Bernardo Harris, and Anthony Perkins – to get their thoughts on Brown’s return to Chapel Hill.
