When the President was hyping his so-called stimulus program, his economic team claimed unemployment would not go above 8 percent... Instead, it's been higher than 8 percent for 43 straight months." Sen. Barrasso continues, "The President's policies have failed to produce the results, accountability, and solutions the American people deserve. I’m Dr. John Barrasso, United States Senator for Wyoming. At the Democratic convention this week, President Obama tried to make the case for why he needs more time to do the job he was elected to do four years ago. “As usual, the President gave a lofty speech. But his vision for America’s future comes down to bigger government, higher taxes, and more spending. “The conventions are over now. The soaring speeches have ended. “It's time for rhetoric to meet reality. “The reality is that America is not better off than it was four years ago. “Today, 23 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed. Many are our friends, neighbors, and family members. “The undeniable truth is, President Obama is on track to have the worst jobs record of any President since World War II. “When the President was hyping his so-called stimulus program, his economic team claimed unemployment would not go above 8 percent, and that it would be below 6 percent by now. Instead, it’s been higher than 8 percent for 43 straight months. “It’s bad enough the stimulus money was wasted. Even worse, he borrowed the money, much of it from China. “Household incomes have dropped by more than $4,000, while the cost of everyday living has gone up. “Gasoline prices have gone up another 30 cents a gallon in just over a month. Americans recently paid the highest prices ever on a Labor Day weekend. “One out of every seven people in America is now on food stamps. “In terms of global competitiveness, the United States has dropped for four straight years. When President Obama took office, we were number one in the world. Now we’re number seven. “American businesses are at a competitive disadvantage because our tax rates are the highest in the developed world. “Americans know what works: low taxes, reasonable regulations, and living within our means. “President Kennedy understood that. He said: ‘Persistently large deficits would endanger our economic growth and our military and defense commitments abroad.’ “He said that 50 years ago, in 1962. Washington's budget deficit that year was $7 billion. “From $7 billion then, to a $1.2 trillion deficit this year. “For every year since he took office, President Obama has spent at least a trillion dollars more than Washington took in, all of it borrowed. “Under his watch, government spends too much, borrows too much, and grows bigger every day. “President Obama’s record of failure has come at a great cost to our country and our future. “The President's policies have failed to produce the results, accountability, and solutions the American people deserve. The Obama Administration is simply not moving our country f

Mitt Romney Speech Republican National Convention RNC 08/30/12 FULL PODCAST VIDEO TEXT TRANSCRIPT PODCAST Mitt Romney’s Convention Speech FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: Governor Mitt Romney delivers the keynote address to the 2012 Republican National Convention. August 30, 2012 | Tampa, FL. Category: News & Politics. License: Standard YouTube License. Mitt Romney’s remarks to the Republican National Convention on Aug. 30 in Tampa , as prepared for delivery. Mr. Chairman, delegates. I accept your nomination for President of the United States of America. I do so with humility, deeply moved by the trust you have placed in me. It is a great honor. It is an even greater responsibility. Tonight I am asking you to join me to walk together to a better future. By my side, I have chosen a man with a big heart from a small town. He represents the best of America, a man who will always make us proud – my friend and America’s next Vice President, Paul Ryan. In the days ahead, you will get to know Paul and Janna better. But last night America got to see what I saw in Paul Ryan – a strong and caring leader who is down to earth and confident in the challenge this moment demands. I love the way he lights up around his kids and how he’s not embarrassed to show the world how much he loves his mom. But Paul, I still like the playlist on my iPod better than yours. Four years ago, I know that many Americans felt a fresh excitement about the possibilities of a new president. That president was not the choice of our party but Americans always come together after elections. We are a good and generous people who are united by so much more than what divides us. When that hard fought election was over, when the yard signs came down and the television commercials finally came off the air, Americans were eager to go back to work, to live our lives the way Americans always have – optimistic and positive and confident in the future. That very optimism is uniquely American. It is what brought us to America. We are a nation of immigrants. We are the children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the ones who wanted a better life, the driven ones, the ones who woke up at night hearing that voice telling them that life in that place called America could be better. They came not just in pursuit of the riches of this world but for the richness of this life. Freedom. Freedom of religion. Freedom to speak their mind. Freedom to build a life. And yes, freedom to build a business. With their own hands. This is the essence of the American experience. We Americans have always felt a special kinship with the future. When every new wave of immigrants looked up and saw the Statue of Liberty, or knelt down and kissed the shores of freedom just ninety miles from Castro’s tyranny, these new Americans surely had many questions. But none doubted that here in America they could build a better life, that in America their children would be more blessed than they. But today, four years from the excitement of the last election, for the first time, the majority of Americans now doubt that our children will have a better future. It is not what we were promised. Every family in America wanted this to be a time when they could get ahead a little more, put aside a little more for college, do more for their elderly mom who’s living alone now or give a little more to their church or charity. Every small business wanted these to be their best years ever, when they could hire more, do more for those who had stuck with them through the hard times, open a new store or sponsor that Little League team. Every new college graduate thought they’d have a good job by now, a place of their own, and that they could start paying back some of their loans and build for the future. This is when our nation was supposed to start paying down the national debt and rolling back those massive deficits. This was the hope and change America voted for. It’s not just what we wanted. It’s not just what we expected.

Chris Christie keynote address (speech) Republican National Convention RNC 08/28/12 FULL PODCAST VIDEO TEXT TRANSCRIPT PODCAST Chris Christie's Convention Speech New Jersey Governor Chris Christie delivers Monday night's keynote address to the 2012 Republican National Convention. August 28, 2012 | Tampa, FL. Category: News and Politics. License: Standard YouTube License FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: Transcript of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's keynote speech as prepared for delivery at the Republican National Convention. This stage and this moment are very improbable for me. A New Jersey Republican delivering the keynote address to our national convention, from a state with 700,000 more Democrats than Republicans. A New Jersey Republican stands before you tonight. Proud of my party, proud of my state and proud of my country. I am the son of an Irish father and a Sicilian mother. My Dad, who I am blessed to have with me here tonight, is gregarious, outgoing and loveable. My Mom, who I lost eight years ago, was the enforcer. She made sure we all knew who set the rules. In the automobile of life, Dad was just a passenger. Mom was the driver. They both lived hard lives. Dad grew up in poverty. After returning from Army service, he worked at the Breyers Ice Cream plant in the 1950s. With that job and the G.I. bill he put himself through Rutgers University at night to become the first in his family to earn a college degree. Our first family picture was on his graduation day, with Mom beaming next to him, six months pregnant with me. Mom also came from nothing. She was raised by a single mother who took three buses to get to work every day. And mom spent the time she was supposed to be a kid actually raising children – her two younger siblings. She was tough as nails and didn't suffer fools at all. The truth was she couldn't afford to. She spoke the truth – bluntly, directly and without much varnish. I am her son. I was her son as I listened to "Darkness on the Edge of Town" with my high school friends on the Jersey Shore. I was her son as I moved into a studio apartment with Mary Pat to start a marriage that is now 26 years old. I was her son as I coached our sons Andrew and Patrick on the fields of Mendham, and as I watched with pride as our daughters Sarah and Bridget marched with their soccer teams in the Labor Day parade. And I am still her son today, as governor, following the rules she taught me: to speak from the heart and to fight for your principles. She never thought you get extra credit for just speaking the truth. The greatest lesson Mom ever taught me, though, was this one: she told me there would be times in your life when you have to choose between being loved and being respected. She said to always pick being respected, that love without respect was always fleeting — but that respect could grow into real, lasting love. Now, of course, she was talking about women. But I have learned over time that it applies just as much to leadership. In fact, I think that advice applies to America today more than ever. I believe we have become paralyzed by our desire to be loved. Our Founding Fathers had the wisdom to know that social acceptance and popularity is fleeting and that this country's principles needed to be rooted in strengths greater than the passions and emotions of the times. Our leaders today have decided it is more important to be popular, to do what is easy and say "yes," rather than to say no when "no" is what's required. In recent years, we as a country have too often chosen the same path. It's been easy for our leaders to say not us, and not now, in taking on the tough issues. And we've stood silently by and let them get away with it. But tonight, I say enough. I say, together, let's make a much different choice. Tonight, we are speaking up for ourselves and stepping up. We are beginning to do what is right and what is necessary to make our country great again. We are demanding that our leaders stop tearing each other

Vicky Hartzler Weekly Republican GOP Address on Helping Farmers and Small Businesses 08/18/12 TEXT PODCAST VIDEO Podcast of the address: Download MP3 for PODCAST || Download Video .mpeg4 || Delivering the Weekly Republican Address, Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), a working farmer and small business owner, talks about the importance of taking on the big challenges facing our country, including President Obama’s small business tax hike, which according to Ernst & Young, would destroy more than 700,000 jobs. Rep. Hartzler notes that the Democratic-controlled Senate has failed to act on, among other items, House-approved measures to stop the small business tax hike and help farmers devastated by the ongoing drought. “Here in the Show Me State, we expect our leaders to offer solutions to our most pressing challenges, especially when the going gets tough,” Rep. Hartzler says. "But these days, the president doesn’t even want to talk about the bad economy, let alone do anything about it.” NOTE: The Weekly Republican Address is embargoed until 6:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, August 18, 2012. The audio is available here, and video of the address will be available here to view and here to download. A full transcript follows: “Hi, I’m Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler from the great state of Missouri. Just a little bit about myself: in addition to serving on the House Agriculture Committee, my husband and I own and operate a farm near Harrisonville, where we raise cattle and grow corn, wheat, and soybeans. We also run a small business that sells and services farm equipment – we’ve got three stores and about 50 employees. “Around the country, it’s that State Fair time of year. Our fair, taking place this week in Sedalia, showcases the best of Missouri agriculture, and this year that means recognizing the perseverance of our farmers and ranchers as they face the worst drought our country has suffered in decades. “Like you, I was relieved earlier this month when the House passed a bipartisan measure helping farmers devastated by the ongoing drought. A lot was riding on this bill, but the Senate, a body controlled by the president’s party, left Washington for the month of August without even bringing it to a vote. The president has seen fit to politicize this issue, but the fact is he didn’t urge the Senate to act. “That is a true shame. Drought conditions continue to worsen, and the shaky state of the economy only amplifies our anxiety. “You’ve probably heard the president say recently that the private sector is ‘doing fine’ and that his plan ‘worked.’ If only that were true. Just take a look at the chilling report the Associated Press issued a few days ago confirming our fears, that this is the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression. Unemployment has never been this high for this long after a recession. Even those who have jobs are seeing their paychecks shrink. Rising prices on everyday things from gas to groceries certainly doesn’t help matters. “Yet, hard as it is to believe, the president and his party think now is a good time to raise taxes on small businesses. Perhaps they haven’t read the independent report from accounting firm Ernst & Young, which shows this tax hike would destroy more than 700,000 jobs. Perhaps they haven’t been listening to the manufacturers and small business owners who are already canceling plans to hire and expand. Or the group of 88 economists who warn this tax hike must be stopped. “Senate Democrats haven’t acted to stop the small business tax hike scheduled for January 1st, but the House has. Because while the president tells small business owners like me ‘you didn’t build that,’ Republicans know better and are committed to getting government out of their way. “That’s why the House has passed more than 30 jobs bills that eliminate excessive red tape, empower small businesses, and approve the Keystone XL pipeline – a critical project the president and his party continue to block. “We’ve also passed a bu

This would mean that taxes would go up on virtually every single taxpaying American." Sen. Hatch continues: "Unfortunately, Washington Democrats' default position appears to be to let everyone's taxes skyrocket, if Congress doesn't agree to their plan to raise taxes on one of the most productive segments of our economy. The group charged with representing small businesses found that 25 percent of our workforce is employed by those very small businesses that would be hit by the President's proposed tax hikes." Finally he concludes: "This isn't the time for political games and vilifying job creators. The President and his Washington allies need to stop holding America's economy hostage in order to raise taxes on those trying to lead our economic recovery. Let's roll up our sleeves to ensure that America remains the leader we know it to be." VIDEO and CREDIT: gopweeklyaddress DOWNLOADS CREDIT: www.republican.senate.gov/

DOWNLOAD MP3 for || PODCAST || Download Video .mpeg4 || WASHINGTON, DC – In the Weekly Republican Address, U.S. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) calls for full repeal of Obamacare following the Supreme Court’s decision this week to uphold the President’s health law. A doctor who has practiced medicine for 25 years, Sen. Barrasso says the Court’s ruling did nothing to improve the failed health care law: “It remains unworkable, unaffordable, and very unpopular.” Sen. Barrasso says congressional Republicans are committed to repealing Obamacare and replacing it with health care reform that ensures Americans “get the care they need, from the doctor they choose, at a lower cost.” The Weekly Republican Address is available in both audio and video format and is embargoed until 6:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, June 30, 2012. FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: “Hi. I’m Dr. John Barrasso, United States Senator for Wyoming. “The President and his allies in Congress are going to try to convince the public that the Supreme Court just gave the health care law a seal of approval. “The fact is that this is the same failed policy that won’t lower the cost of health care in America. “On Thursday, I was in the courtroom as the Supreme Court ruled that the President’s health care law is what the President claimed it was not: a new tax. “President Obama has repeatedly promised, and I quote, ‘if you're a family making less than $250,000 a year, my plan,’ he said, ‘won't raise your taxes one penny.’ “Now, all of America knows the truth. “The President's health care law hires more IRS agents to investigate you and to make sure you buy insurance—but it fails to deal with the shortage of nurses and doctors to actually take care of you. “The President’s health care tax is only one of his many broken promises related to this law. “He promised lower health care costs, but they keep going up. “He promised lower insurance premiums, but they've increased $2,400 a family over the past three years. “He promised the law would create jobs, but the Congressional Budget Office projects that 800,000 fewer people will have jobs because of this law. “He promised it wouldn’t add a dime to the deficit, but the law calls for trillions of dollars in new spending that Americans don’t want. “The President said he would protect Medicare—but instead he raided $500 billion from our seniors on Medicare—not to strengthen Medicare—but to start a whole new government program for someone else. “Even after the Supreme Court ruling was announced, the President said that if you like the insurance you have, you can keep it. “Mr. President, because of your law, many Americans have already lost the health insurance that they had and they liked. “Each broken promise proves that the Supreme Court’s ruling did absolutely nothing to improve the President's failed health care law. “It remains unworkable, unaffordable, and very unpopular. “Americans deserve better. “As a doctor who’s practiced medicine for 25 years, I know that the health care system in this country is far from perfect. It’s one of the reasons I ran for the Senate in the first place. “The goal of health care reform all along should have been to ensure that people get the care they need, from the doctor they choose, at a lower cost. “Under President Obama's health care law, they got the exact opposite—tax increases and government control. “Now we have another chance to reform our health care system and in a way that does not result in higher costs, in fewer choices, and less personal control. “There should be no doubt: Republicans in Congress will fight to repeal the President's failed health care law. “It is a law that is bad for patients, it is bad for the nurses and the doctors who care for those patients, and it's terrible for taxpayers. “In the middle of a tough economy, President Obama passed a health care law that has made our economy even

Bill Cassidy Weekly Republican GOP Address on Jobs & Repealing ObamaCare 06/23/12 VIDEO PODCAST TEXT TRANSCRIPT DOWNLOAD MP3 for PODCAST || Download Video .mpeg4 || FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: “Hello, I’m Bill Cassidy, a doctor and United States Congressman from the State of Louisiana. “As you know, the U.S. Supreme Court will soon rule on the constitutionality of the president’s health care law, a law which continues to hurt job creation and damage our economy. Not only is President Obama’s health care law not working – it makes things worse by driving up health care costs, making it harder for small businesses to hire workers. The only way to change this is by repealing ObamaCare entirely. “So, unless the Court throws out the entire law, we should repeal what is left and implement common-sense, step-by-step reforms that protect Americans’ access to the care they need, from the doctor they choose, at the lowest cost. “In this tough economy, the top health care concern of families and small businesses is out-of-control costs. Health care coverage has become too expensive for too many people. Two years ago, Washington Democrats pushed through ObamaCare and its 2,700 pages with promises that it would fix all this. It did not have popular support. It did not have bipartisan support. But its authors insisted that ObamaCare would make health care more affordable, and of course Americans hoped that would be true. “Instead, ObamaCare has turned out to be the wrong medicine for out-of-control health care costs. The law, as an example, is going to cost nearly twice as much as we were told, people are already paying more for their health care than they were before, and because of health insurance expenses, employers are canceling plans to expand their businesses, which is to say they will not be hiring new workers. With costs going up and too much uncertainty, this two trillion dollar takeover will result in more people being pushed out of the plan they enjoy today. “The Obama administration has tried all kinds of run-of-the-mill Washington tactics to distract from ObamaCare’s failures – issuing hundreds of waivers to selected businesses and unions and spending millions of taxpayer dollars on public relations campaigns. “None of this has worked, and now the vast majority of Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn all or part of ObamaCare. If that happens, it’s important to know that Republicans will not repeat Democrats’ mistakes. We will not rush through a massive bill the American people don’t support or won’t even have time to read to figure out whether they do support it. And we won’t take our focus off jobs and the economy. “I have practiced medicine for nearly three decades primarily treating the uninsured … I still see patients almost weekly. Good health care starts in a doctor’s office, not a Washington backroom. It’s now clear, if it wasn’t already, that containing costs step-by-step – not expanding government in one fell swoop – is the right approach to health care reform. Families should be able to make their own health care choices, visit the doctor of their choosing, and receive the health care they and their physician feel is best. That means implementing patient-centered solutions that lower costs and restore Americans’ freedoms over their health care decisions. “Again, Republicans continue, as promised, to focus on helping small businesses create jobs. The most recent jobs report pegged unemployment at 8.2 percent – much higher than what White House officials said it would be by now with the ‘stimulus’ in effect. ObamaCare, with its fees, tax hikes, and costly mandates, makes this worse. We should seize this opportunity to protect jobs and work together on a step-by-step reform that does what ObamaCare did not do, which is to lower the cost of health care for families and small businesses. This is what Republicans hope to achieve, and we hope to have your support. “Thank you for listening, and God bless the United St

Erik Paulsen (R-MN) highlights the House’s focus on jobs as the president’s policies continue to make our economy worse. “His health care law may well be the worst offender, driving up costs and making it harder for small businesses to hire workers,” Rep. Paulsen says. “It's making things worse in our economy, and it needs to be fully repealed.” A measure passed by the House this week, and sponsored by Rep. Paulsen, repeals an ObamaCare tax on medical device manufacturers that provides yet another vivid illustration of how this health care law is hurting small businesses. The text and audio of the Weekly Republican Address are available immediately; the video will be ready to view and download after the embargo is lifted 06/09/12 at 6:00 a.m. ET. FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: “Hello, I’m Congressman Erik Paulsen from the great state of Minnesota. “Last week the U.S. Department of Labor gave Americans some very bad news. Only 69,000 jobs were added in May, and the unemployment rate is 8.2 percent – far above the level the Obama administration promised it would be by now when the president’s “stimulus” spending bill was enacted. “It’s clear that getting our economy going again should be job number one for everyone in Washington. Too many Americans are still having a hard time finding jobs, small businesses are struggling to create them, and there’s little mystery as to why. The president’s policies are standing in the way of a stronger economy. His health care law well may be the worst offender, driving up costs and making it harder for small businesses to hire workers. It's making things worse in our economy, and it needs to be fully repealed. “Republicans remain focused on removing government barriers to job creation so we can build a stronger economy for all Americans. In the coming weeks, through our Plan for America’s Job Creators, the House will act on measures to boost domestic energy production and stop the massive tax hike on small businesses that is scheduled for January 1st. This is on top of the more than 30 jobs bills the House has passed that are stalled in the Democratic-run Senate. “One of those initiatives, passed just this week, repealing a massive job killing tax increase on medical device manufacturers that is in the president’s health care law. Repealing this job-crushing tax is a critical step, also worthy of the Senate’s support. And, it’s a vivid demonstration of why we need to fully repeal this health care law. “The medical technology industry is an American success story that accounts for more than 423,000 jobs in our country, many of which are in my home state of Minnesota. It’s made up of America’s best innovators, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, engineers and doctors, who are improving and saving lives. In other words, this unique industry brings the wonders of technology to bear on the toughest challenges of life. We’re talking about small businesses, those with less than 50 employees that are already struggling. This new $29 billion tax has not even taken effect yet, but already employers are canceling plans to expand…they are moving their operations overseas…and they are cutting research and development. “Worse yet, I’ve heard from business leaders who say that this new tax is already forcing them to lay off workers and they may even have to shut their doors completely. We cannot afford to lose these – or any – American jobs. “Promises that this law would lower health care costs have also fallen well short. Health insurance premiums for the average American family spiked nine percent last year – triple the increase seen the year before. “Clearly we can’t go on like this. The health care law’s one-size-fits-all approach is unsustainable and unaffordable, and soon, the Supreme Court

EST* Delivering the Weekly Republican Address on Memorial Day weekend, Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) honors America’s fallen heroes and talks about how best to ensure our servicemembers come home to a strong, growing economy. With Americans continuing to ask ‘where are the jobs?,’ Rep. Jenkins touts Republicans’ Plan for America’s Job Creators and the nearly 30 House-passed jobs bills that are stalled in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Several of these jobs bills call for an ‘all-of-the-above’ strategy that removes government barriers to domestic energy production, which Republicans highlighted this week as part of the House Energy Action Team’s (HEAT) 2012 American Energy and Jobs Tour. The text and the audio of the Weekly Republican Address are available immediately; the video will be ready to view and download after the embargo is lifted tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. ET. FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: “Hi, I’m Lynn Jenkins, I represent the Second Congressional District of Kansas, home to Fort Leavenworth, the oldest active Army post west of our nation’s capital, Fort Riley, home of the Big Red One, the 190th Coyotes at Forbes Field; and nearly 12,000 National Guard and Reserve members. “It’s an honor to speak with you on Memorial Day weekend, a time to pause and thank the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who have died in the defense of our country. As we honor the fallen, we pray for our sons and daughters who are risking their lives so that we may live in freedom and security. “Of course, we owe it to our service members to do everything we can to ensure they come home to a strong, growing economy that creates jobs and opportunities. Unfortunately, roughly 22 million of our fellow citizens are struggling to find a good-paying full-time job in President Obama’s economy. Higher prices on everything from gas to groceries has added to the strain on families and small businesses. “Americans are clamoring for optimistic leadership and a positive agenda to help get people back to work, which is what Republicans’ Plan for America’s Job Creators provides. The Republican jobs plan is built around small businesses, not big government, and instead of short-term ‘stimulus,’ our plan emphasizes long-term growth. “This week, as part our jobs plan, my Republican colleagues and I spread out across the country to highlight the economic potential of our domestic energy resources. As part of this American Energy & Jobs Tour, I visited an oil well in Girard, Kansas – a small town whose proud energy workers make a big contribution to our region’s economy. Ours is a state that would be part of the Keystone XL pipeline, a job-creating project the president has repeatedly blocked. An overwhelming majority of the American people and a bipartisan coalition in Congress supports Keystone, but right now it is stuck in a House-Senate conference committee due to opposition from the president and his allies in the Senate Democratic leadership. Republicans are holding strong for Keystone by insisting it should be included in any transportation legislation Congress sends to President Obama. “Because while the President demonizes home grown energy and pursues tax policies that advantage foreign energy over domestic, Republicans are working to make the United States the largest energy producing nation in the world, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs right here at home. “Our energy workers are the best around – they can do this, if we remove government barriers to all forms of domestic energy production. “Our small businesses can thrive – if we rein in the red tape and costly regulations that bog them down and keep them from investing and hiring new workers. “Our college graduates can enter the workforce with confidence – if we repeal the health c

Kristi Noem Weekly Republican GOP Address Pitches GOP Jobs Plan as Gift for Moms & College Grads 05/12/12 TEXT PODCAST VIDEO - DOWNLOAD MP3 for PODCAST || Download Video .mpeg4 || Washington (May 11) - Delivering the Weekly Republican Address on Mother’s Day weekend, Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD) says that in the wake of last week’s disappointing unemployment report, Republicans continue to focus on the economy and the pro-growth Plan for America’s Job Creators. Rep. Noem notes that President Obama is “ignoring the tough choices and trying to distract from the real issues,” pointing to his recent politicization of women’s health and student loan rates. Rep. Noem, who received her bachelor’s degree last weekend, highlights how more than half of young college graduates are either unemployed or underemployed due to policies like the president’s health care law that make it harder to hire new workers. “If the president is truly serious about doing what’s best for women, young people, and all Americans,” Rep. Noem says, he should work with Republicans to help get our economy back on track. FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: “Hello, I’m Kristi Noem from the great state of South Dakota. I’m a proud wife, mother, rancher, and a member of the United States House of Representatives. Last week, I took on another title, ‘college graduate.’ When I was 22, I had to leave school to help run our family farming and ranching operation after my dad died in an accident on our farm. After many years, I returned to school in 2008, and was grateful to walk across the stage at South Dakota State University last Saturday with my political science degree in hand. “Commencements are happy occasions, of course, but I couldn’t help but think about the challenges that this year’s graduates will face. Last week’s disappointing unemployment figures were a sobering reminder that our economy continues to struggle. Over half of the recent college graduates cannot get a job in President Obama’s economy. One of the reasons is that policies like the president’s health care law, they make our economy worse by making it harder for small businesses to hire new workers. “The president claims to be leading us ‘forward’ but his policies have us stuck. Instead of working with Republicans to rebuild the economy, the president is ignoring the tough choices and trying to distract from the real issues. “When the House recently passed legislation to prevent student loan rates from doubling, the president falsely claimed that by targeting an ObamaCare slush fund to pay for our fix, that Republicans were slashing support for women’s health. Independent news organizations quickly debunked these allegations. What’s more, the president has twice cut money from this very same slush fund, most recently in his own budget. This is just further proof that he is politicizing this issue to distract the American people. “The challenges young people and women face in this economy need to be addressed, not exploited for political gain. Like any mother, I want to know our kids and grandkids will have even greater opportunities than we had, and that the free and prosperous America that we grew up in is still going to be there for them. “That’s why Republicans are focused – we’re focused on helping put Americans back to work through our ‘Plan for America’s Job Creators.’ In the House, we’ve passed several ‘all of the above’ energy bills to address high gas prices and help create jobs. We’ve passed a budget to lift the crushing burden of debt that’s hurting our economy and is threatening our future. We’ve passed small business tax cuts and bills reining in red tape so we can get government out of the private sector’s way. All told, more than two dozen House-passed jobs bills are awaiting action in the Democratic-controlled Senate. If the president is truly serious about doing what’s best for women, young people – and all Americans – working on these jobs bills should be our focus. “One of the main reasons I

Bob Corker Weekly Republican GOP Address Democrats' Failed Fiscal Leadership 05/05/12 TEXT PODCAST VIDEO - DOWNLOAD MP3 for PODCAST WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., delivered the Weekly Republican Address today, calling for pro-growth tax reform and a long-term plan to reduce our debt and strengthen Social Security and Medicare for the long haul. The audio of the address is available here, the video is available here and you may download the address here. “Preserving the principles that have made this country great is the struggle of this generation—free enterprise, personal liberty and a society where everyone has the tools and the opportunity to earn success,” said Corker. “Nothing makes people happier than earning success. Our Founding Fathers understood this and considered the ‘pursuit of happiness’ to be a God-given right. Let’s put in place policies that will enable future generations to earn success. It’s the American Dream.” A full transcript of the address follows: “I’m Bob Corker, and I’m proud to represent Tennessee in the United States Senate. “When I was 25 years old, I saved $8,000 and started my own construction company. I worked hard, and my business expanded. Our country’s free enterprise system gave me the opportunity to earn success and to live the American Dream. “I became involved in public service to help provide my neighbors with the opportunity to experience the American Dream themselves, and I came to Washington with the same goal. “But I fear our country is moving to a place where politicians have lost sight of the value of earned success. “Politicians are bankrupting our country by passing legislation without paying for it and abandoning the free market principles that give people the opportunity to succeed. “It’s disappointing and, I can assure you, highly frustrating to see what happens here in Washington: More spending and debt and kicking tough decisions down the road, robbing – literally robbing – the next generation of the opportunity to pursue success and live their own American Dream. “Last Sunday marked three years since the Senate has passed a budget. Three years. Think about that. The federal government, which spends more than $3.5 trillion a year, much of it borrowed from outside the United States, has no guideline for how that money is spent. “The Democratic Leader of the Senate said it would be ‘foolish for us to do a budget at this stage,’ and he’s even refused to hold a vote. “When the Democratic chairman of the Senate Budget Committee attempted to hold a markup on a budget, he was stopped at the last minute and pulled a vote from consideration. “And what about our presidential leadership? President Obama’s budget failed to receive a single ‘yes’ vote in either House of Congress last year. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, this year’s presidential budget would actually decrease economic growth over the next decade. “This kind of Washington mismanagement has put us in a place where over the last three years our debt has increased by more than $4 trillion. “Failing to accomplish even the most basic responsibility of government is a total failure of leadership and represents everything the American people hate about Washington. “Just last month, the trustees for Medicare and Social Security reiterated that the programs are on a path towards insolvency and in urgent need of reform. “Despite every warning sign imaginable, we have no solutions from this Administration or Democratic leadership in the Senate. “The President punts on almost every tough decision. In fact, as he appeals to college students, his Administration is robbing those same young people of their American inheritance, spending their money on my generation and engaging in nothing short of generational theft. “Families and state governments are making tough decisions every day in order to make ends meet. And businesses are crying out for clarity on tax rates and regulation. This uncert

Paul Ryan Weekly Republican GOP Address Marks Three-Year Anniversary of Senate Dems’ Last Budget 04/28/12 TEXT PODCAST VIDEO. Podcast of the address: Download MP3 for PODCAST || Download Video .mpeg4 || Washington (Apr 28) - Delivering the Weekly Republican Address, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) discusses Republicans’ Path to Prosperity budget, which cuts government spending to protect hardworking taxpayers, strengthens health and retirement security, and lifts the crushing burden of debt. Sunday marks three years to the day since the Democratic-run Senate last passed a budget, a failure of governing that has contributed to the ‘stimulus’ spending binge that is hurting our economy. FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT: “Hello, my name is Paul Ryan and I represent the first district of Wisconsin. “As I go around Southern Wisconsin and visit with Americans across the country about the debt and the economy, people often ask: is it too late to save America from a diminished future? “It’s a difficult question, it’s one that makes me worry about my children’s future, and I know you’re worried too. “But the honest answer is this: It’s not too late to save the American Dream. “You see, we are closer than you think to solutions that will help create jobs and put us back on a path to prosperity. “Regrettably, this president has failed to lead us, to unite us, and to help us address our defining challenges. “Last week, leaders in the United States Senate, which is controlled by the president’s own party, announced they would not advance a budget for the third year in a row. Tomorrow, in fact, will mark three years to the day since the Senate last fulfilled this basic governing responsibility. “This unserious approach to budgeting has dire consequences for American families. The President and his party leaders are now insisting that Washington take trillions of dollars from hardworking Americans in an effort to lock in ever-higher government spending. “If we’ve learned anything over the last three years, it’s that this approach won’t work. “The good news is, there’s a better way forward: a budget, recently passed by the House of Representatives, that would lift the debt and free the nation from the constraints of ever-expanding government. “If enacted, this budget would promote economic growth and opportunity starting today, with bold reforms to the tax code and a credible, principled plan to prevent a debt crisis from ever happening. “It would support safe, responsible energy exploration here at home to address high gas prices and it would repeal the president’s health care law, which is making it harder for businesses to hire new workers. “Repealing the President’s health care law would also protect America’s seniors. The law raids over $500 billion from Medicare and empowers a board of 15 unelected bureaucrats to cut Medicare in ways that would deny seniors access to the care they need. “Our budget saves and strengthens Medicare by proposing to put 50 million seniors, not 15 unaccountable bureaucrats, in charge of their personal health care decisions. “This budget would also ensure the federal government can make good on its commitment to younger Americans – a stark contrast to the dismal economy and empty promises offered by the President’s policies. “Our budget expands opportunity for the next generation, saves them from a debt-burdened future, and ensures that the important education programs they rely on are made stronger and more sustainable. “The President is hunkered down in campaign mode, and seems intent on dividing Americans for political gain instead of offering credible solutions to our most pressing fiscal and economic challenges. And his party leaders in the Senate? They’re about to go another year without a budget. “By contrast, the Republican-led House has passed a pro-growth budget and nearly 30 jobs bills that are waiting for action in the Senate. This week, we passed four more bills relating to stopping cyberterr
