He is currently a Professor of Law at the University of Vermont and the former dean of Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. for the past four decades. In the past Prof. Speth served as the chairman of President Jimmy Carter’s Council on Environmental Quality under President Carter and he was a senior advisor on President Clinton’s transition team. He has received many awards for his stance on dealing with global environmental problems, including Japan’s prestigious Blue Planet Prize for lifetime creative, visionary leadership.
