Summary: (00:00-22:04) – Jimmy Cook is in for Dan today, as the show opens with him talking about the beginning of the free agency period in the NBA, and giving a rundown of what’s to come over the course of the program. Jimmy talks about the Atlanta Hawks, Dejounte Murray, and how Trae Young intrigues him. He talks about how he would develop the Pacers rebuild, and how this shouldn’t be a rush job, as well as why Malcolm Brogdon hasn’t been traded. (22:04-41:19) – Jimmy talks to Greg Rakestraw, voice of the Indy Eleven, about the growth of the franchise and the plans for the squad. They talk about the potential for a new stadium, and the importance of that venue for the team to make the jump to the MLS. The conversation turns to the Colts, and on how optimistic the Colts and Greg are with Matt Ryan under center now. They also go over training camp, and what usually stands out during that.  (41:19-43:48) – The first hour of the show wraps up with Jimmy talking about the potential for the Pacers getting top market free agents.  (43:48-1:10:50) – James Boyd joins the start of the 2nd hour to talk Pacers, and if they should bring back Lance Stephenson, and if Stephenson would accept a lesser role, similar to Udonis Haslem. They dive into who else the Pacers should bring back, as well as target in free agency. Malcolm Brogdon is discussed, mainly if he will be moved during free agency, or if they’ll wait until the start of the season. They project the Pacers upcoming season and where the team will be at this point next year. Dan gives his most valuable free agents in this free agent class, and what he expects to happen to those players. Dan also discusses what players the Pacers could be focusing on, specifically Deandre Ayton. Jimmy then breaks some news that USC and UCLA are planning to leave for the Big 10 in 2024.  (1:27:02-1:32:11) – The 2nd hour finishes with Jimmy going over the huge USC/UCLA news. (1:32:11-1:56:41) – JJ Stankevitz of Colts.com joins to first discuss the massive news out of college sports, and whether it’s a good thing or not. They go over how the realignment will impact the NFL, specifically in terms of scouting. They preview the Colts upcoming training camp, and what JJ sees in the position battles, and how players improve themselves. Jimmy asks about the state of the AFC South, and how the Colts should win the division this year, while JJ believes it will be another “grind it out” year for Indy.  (1:56:41-2:08:36) – Jimmy continues to talk about the news out of college sports, and how it will impact the football side of things. He also goes over how the move makes the Big 10 stronger. (2:08:36-2:13:39) – Thursday’s show concludes with Jimmy sharing the result from the Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing and Casino Race of the Day. Also, Jimmy Cook gives the JCook Plays of the Day.
