A Pod of Their Own, Episode 103: May you live in interesting times

Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast show

Summary: Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing the difficult position the Mets find themselves in this offseason—with lots of holes to fill, but not in a position to rebuild. We also talk about the possibility of Billy Beane as President of Baseball Operations. In our baseball segment this week, we talk about the dugout spat between Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. We also discuss the rising cost to attend a baseball game and how that makes the game inaccessible to fans.  We also remind everyone about our upcoming fundraising event this Saturday at Katch in Astoria at 5:00pm. Please come if you are able to! We have lots of awesome prizes to bid on—including a signed bat from Brandon Nimmo and a signed ball from Michael Conforto—all to benefit the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.
