UnforMETable, Episode 70: Kenny Greer

Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast show

Summary: Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Kenny Greer is a member of a somewhat exclusive club—one of the few players involved in a rare trade between the Mets and Yankees. The career minor leaguer toiled for six years in the Yankees organization before coming to the Mets for Frank Tanana in an also rare September trade in 1993. Thanks to a confluence of expanded September rosters and an incredibly long 17 inning game, Greer got an opportunity to make his MLB debut—and throw one of his 13 career MLB innings—as a New York Met, hurling a perfect 17th inning and recording a win—his only career victory, and one of only 59 in a painful 1993 season for the Mets. If you’ve got an idea for a player to be featured on UnforMETable, let us know in the comments. Make sure to follow Rob on Twitter (@WolffRR), and you can now follow the show, too (@unformetable).
