A Pod of Their Own, Episode 105: Mets report card

Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast show

Summary: Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by handing out grades to each Mets player, as well as the front office and Luis Rojas. We also discuss Luis Rojas’ firing and the latest front office rumors. Next, we talk about a piece from Michael Rosenberg of Sports Illustrated bringing in BDSM experts to discuss the Trevor Bauer situation.  We also talk about two prominent pieces in ESPN and The Athletic about the mental health crisis in the minor leagues and the poor conditions players face—an issue that is thankfully receiving more national attention as we head into CBA negotiations in the offseason. We would like to thank each of our Dollars for Dingers pledgers, who helped us raise over $12,000 for the National Domestic Violence Hotline this year. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.
