Album de la semaine: Madvillain - Madvillainy (Ça va madlibber à soir ;) Album du mois: Madlib Medicine Show Vol. 3: Beat Konducta in Africa @@@@ Massive. This actually lives up to expectations. Madlib is the greatest. Let's not forget he released 5 other albums in the past 3 months and he still manages to cook one of the finest instrumental hip hop releases of recent memory. Like the previous Beat Konducta projects it follows a theme and this time around it's pretty obvious: Africa. Yep Madlib makes beats with African music samples, but this is more than just a simple beat tape. The flow is incredible, it's full of vocals samples from interviews, documentaries and whatever talking about Africa and that really adds some extra touches to the beats (which are already dope as fuck). The percussion and drums used are quite original, but that's to be expected since Madlib is not your average predictable producer. These rhythms make a wonderful blend with the african samples, the sound of the project is quite unique and innovative. Not to discredit his little brother Oh No, but this is what Ethiopium should have sounded like, not that it wasn't good but this is really something else. It's perhaps an indication that big bro is indeed the best of the 2. An incredible record and probably the best in the Beat Konducta series since Movie Scenes, they are all great anyway. Yet another essential piece in the Madlib puzzle, fans absolutely need to get this.
