Continuing on the theme of the contest inside of us between the old man Adam and the New Adam, in this sermon we see how His Majesty's saying of the two sparrows is very significant in this struggle (a saying rooted in Leviticus 14). If we embrace the means He gives us, most readily practiced during Lent, we will be able to put down the old Adam little by little while at the same time practicing for heaven. Then the little sparrow will take flight to its heaven like a little bird freed from the bonds of this world.
