(2014-11-30) Advent Enables Us to Avoid Spiritual Shell Shock

Audio Sancto show

Summary: Sermon titled "Advent Enables Us to Avoid Spiritual Shell Shock" given on Sunday November 30, 2014. Size: 7.8 MB; duration: 22:39. In World War I, many soldiers on both sides came down with a mental and spiritual malady called "shell shock." I seems that this was caused by the convergence of at least three factors: (i) the men felt trapped in their trenches with no headway being made; (ii) the horrible violence they endured and inflicted on others seemed pointless; (iii) they had no confidence in their leaders. Although we are suffering greatly at this time, we have a leader we can follow: the King of kings. We have purpose for all that we are suffering... And we are going somewhere. We have all we need to avoid shell shock! Let us be sure to use this Advent to solidify our place in the next life and only give gifts at Christmas that help others do the same.
