153 – Chris Hogan: Host of Dave Ramsey’s EntreLeadership Podcast; Professional Speaker & Coach

Dose of Leadership with Richard Rierson | Authentic & Courageous Leadership Development show

Summary: Chris’s professional experience with money has run the gamut from consumer finance to mortgages to banking and now to financial counseling and speaking. With almost 20 years’ experience in the financial world, Chris has become a student of money and its influence and effects on individuals, families, and businesses. When he was fresh out of graduate school, Chris started with a consumer finance company that quickly utilized his people skills, sales ability and booming voice to sell, collect, and lead a team. After spending 6 years in the industry, Chris had learned the intricate details of how the various products of personal loans, merchant contracts, mortgages and insurance all tied into the credit game. After managing offices and teams in multiple states, the consumer finance world had taken a toll on Chris. He began to see how the industry was focused on one thing – sell and close – at all costs. Having reached a point where he could no longer “push products” he knew that it was time for a change. Chris then gained additional experience in mortgages as well as in the consumer banking industry. But he still felt a void in his desire to more fully impact families and businesses and their relationship with money. Instead, he was only able to help on isolated transactions instead of one’s entire outlook of their finances. Chris now focuses on what he calls the “Three E’s” – educating, encouraging and empowering people to take an active role in how they relate to money. His goal is to give people information using edu-tainment. He wanted to educate people in an entertaining way, yet challenge them to “think bigger and do better.” He is also able to give concrete guidance and anecdotes from his varied experiences. He understood that if he could change the way people view money, they could change their financial picture. If people were able to change their financial picture, they could establish a legacy. The goal is simply stated, but there is much work to be done. He travels the country speaking to groups, businesses, and individuals to help them with this mission.
