That’s not the world we live in.
For many people, expressing who you are, having a voice and making it heard, is risky – especially for women, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of colour), disabled and neurodiverse folks, and those in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Being who you are and expressing yourself can get you bullied, verbally abused, beaten up, or worse.
That embeds a powerful message deep inside us.
That being visible is unsafe.
That standing out makes you a target.
Welcome to the Fifty Shades of Gender project. We want to help create a world where we can all shine as bright as we are, and become beacons to empower others to do the same.
How can we create such a world? A world of inclusion, acceptance and respect for all gender identities, all sexes, and all sexual orientations?
By showing up for ourselves first – even in small ways.
By supporting and standing up for others who are showing up.
We all have a story.
Stories are powerful.
Stories connect us with others.
If you can, and if it’s safe… SHARE YOURS.
Anywhere.
Any time.
In any way possible.
Join the movement.
