Kaiir Elam BUF CB
Bills' Kaiir Elam: Ready for next step?
8h agoElam, who missed most of the 2023 regular season due to an ankle injury and coaching decisions, finished with 14 total tackles over three regular-season games.
Elam did appear in both of the Bills' playoff games, though he was limited to special teams in the divisional-round loss to the Chiefs. So far in his young career, Elam's output in two NFL seasons hasn't come close to matching his first-round status, but the Bills had to let several secondary members move on this season and will likely spend one of their high picks on receiver, so Elam may be earmarked for a more prominent role in 2024 even if he's not a starter just yet. Some comments from team brass in the offseason have indicated the Bills are hopeful Elam is ready to make that jump in performance.

Cody Davis NE DB
Cody Davis: Hangs up cleats
15h agoDavis announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, Chris Mason of Masslive.com reports.
Davis played 11 NFL seasons, spending five years with the Rams, two with the Jaguars and the final four of his career with the Patriots. The 34-year-old primarily played on special teams and hadn't played a defensive snap since 2020. He'll finish his career with 118 combined tackles, two interceptions and three fumbles recovered.

Olamide Zaccheaus PHI WR
Commanders' Olamide Zaccheaus: Moving on to Washington
15h agoZaccheaus has agreed to a deal with the Commanders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In his only campaign with the Eagles, Zaccheaus (who caught 40 passes with the Falcons in 2022) finished the 2023 regular season with 10 catches for 164 yards and two TDs in 17 games. With the Commanders, the 26-year-old will add depth to a wideout corps that is currently led by Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. In that context, Zaccheaus has some bounce-back potential if he can carve out steady snaps in 2024 behind the team's top duo.

DeShawn Williams BUF DE
Bills' DeShawn Williams: Lands in Buffalo
18h agoThe Bills signed Williams to a one-year contract Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Williams suited up for 16 regular-season games with the Panthers last season, a span in which he racked up 33 tackles (13 solo) and one sack. He stands to bolster Buffalo's defensive line as a depth piece for the 2024 season.

Jayden Daniels 2005 QB
Jayden Daniels: Throws at LSU Pro Day
18h agoDaniels, who opted to not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, did so at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Daniels, who measured in at 6-foot-3⅝, 210 pounds, was slated to spend time afterward with the Patriots, Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders. As next month's draft approaches, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is viewed as one of the top options at the QB position along with USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. While Williams is expected to be selected first overall, where Daniels lands remains to be seen, though what is clear is that the top four signal-callers figure to come off the board quickly, in any case.

Josiah Deguara JAC TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
21h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

Nate Sudfeld DET QB
Lions' Nate Sudfeld: Remains in Detroit
2d agoSudfeld (knee) re-signed with the Lions on Wednesday.
Sudfeld missed all of last year after suffering a torn ACL in a preseason game against the Panthers. The 30-year-old operated as the team's backup quarterback to Jared Goff in 2022, and was competing with Teddy Bridgewater for that role last season before his injury. If he can make the Lions roster in 2024, he'll likely be the No. 3 option with Hendon Hooker behind Goff.
-
Jared Goff DET QB
Lions' Jared Goff: Discussing new deal
3d agoGoff and the Lions have begun negotiations on a contract extension, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
The same is true for star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, one of the team's nine regular starters on offense currently under contract with the Lions for 2024. The two exceptions are wide receiver Josh Reynolds, who averaged 3.8 targets per game last year, and right guard Jonah Jackson, who has already been replaced by 2023 Pro Bowler Kevin Zeitler. Even offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is back for another year, after many assumed he'd leave for a head coaching job. Goff has just one season and $27.3 million remaining on a four-year extension he originally signed with the Rams. What was once viewed as an overpay has now become one of the best values among veteran QB contracts, with the 29-year-old coming off consecutive seasons with more than 4,400 passing yards and at least 29 TDs. Goff hasn't quite been as effective for fantasy managers, as he offers next to nothing on the ground and plays in an offense that got 47 rushing TDs from its running backs over the past two seasons.
-
Dak Prescott DAL QB
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Not offered extension yet
3d agoThe Cowboys haven't offered Prescott a contract extension, with player and team having a "mutual understanding" of the situation as he enters a contract season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Prescott had one of his best statistical seasons in 2023, but the Cowboys may be hesitant to commit long term after yet another disappointment in the playoffs. On the other hand, Prescott is scheduled for a $55.46 million cap hit in 2024 even after restructuring with void years, and an extension would allow the Cowboys to significantly lower that number. He'll turn 31 in August, and without a significant addition in the draft, he may play 2024 behind the worst offensive line he's ever had while also working with a diminished supporting cast following the departure of Tony Pollard.

Zach Wilson NYJ QB
Jets' Zach Wilson: May stay if no trade happens
4d agoJets chairman Woody Johnson suggested Monday that if the Jets don't trade Wilson, they intend to keep the QB, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
That said, Cimini notes that the Jets remain motivated to deal Wilson, who last month was granted permission to speak to other teams about a possible trade. Given that Tyrod Taylor was recently signed by the Jets to back up Aaron Rodgers (Achilles), a change of scenery would no doubt benefit Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In three seasons since then, the 24-year-old has compiled a 12-21 record as a starter and thrown more interceptions (25) than TD passes (23).

Anthony Richardson IND QB
Colts' Anthony Richardson: Should be ready for OTAs
4d agoCoach Shane Steichen noted Monday that Richardson (right shoulder) "should be" OK for the Colts' OTAs, which take place in May and early June, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.
"I like where he's at," Steichen said of Richardson, who is bouncing back from surgery that he underwent on his throwing shoulder in October. "He's progressing really, really well. He's just getting better and better." Per James Boyd of The Athletic, Richardson began throwing again last month, and, considering that, the 2023 first-rounder figures to be eased back into his on-field participation, at least initially. In any case, assuming no setbacks, Richardson is set to reclaim his role as the Colts' starting quarterback this coming season, with veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco now on board to work as the team's top backup.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
23h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Cleared for football activities
3d agoOrthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache wrote in a letter to NFL teams Tuesday that Dobbins (Achilles) has received clearance to take part in football activities, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dobbins underwent surgery for a torn left Achilles on Sept. 15, and he's a little less than seven months removed from his injury. The running back posted a video in late February of him running on turf and then a treadmill, so it would appear he's ready to take the next steps in his recovery. Since the Ravens selected him in the second round of the 2020 Draft, Dobbins has been dynamic when available, averaging a robust 5.8 yards per carry with 12 touchdowns in his 234 rushes over 24 games. However, his medical chart includes a torn ACL in addition to the aforementioned Achilles injury, so he may have to settle for a prove-it deal wherever he ends up. Dobbins is expected to begin visiting teams in the near future.

Cordarrelle Patterson ATL RB
Steelers' Cordarrelle Patterson: Takes talents to Pittsburgh
3d agoThe Steelers and Patterson agreed to terms on a two-year, $6 million contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
With this move to Pittsburgh, Patterson reunites with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who he worked under the past three seasons in Atlanta. Patterson reeled off 1,313 rushing yards, 670 receiving yards and 19 total touchdowns in 29 games between 2021 and 2022, but his numbers fell off once the Falcons drafted Bijan Robinson. With the Steelers, Patterson will be in a similar spot as the No. 3 RB behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, but the 33-year-old could have a big year as a kickoff returner under the NFL's new rules.

Nick Chubb CLE RB
Browns' Nick Chubb: Almost ready to resume load running
3d agoChubb (knee) is expected to resume load running soon, and the next three months will determine his availability for the start of the 2024 season, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Chubb is expected to graduate from conditioning work "this month", per Browns general manager Andrew Berry. Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports that the general manager also said the running back has done a fantastic job in his rehab thus far, and reiterated that Chubb is expected to remain with the Browns for the 2024 season despite a $15.83 million cap hit in his final year of his contract. Cleveland inked D'Onta Foreman in free agency, adding another depth piece to the backfield alongside Jerome Ford, but the expectation remains that Chubb will operate as the Browns' starter once fully recovered from surgeries to repair the ACL, MCL and meniscus of his left knee. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see Ford and Foreman begin the 2024 campaign with larger workloads, and for Chubb's involvement to grow as the season progresses.

Damien Harris BUF RB
Damien Harris: Announces retirement
3d agoHarris (concussion) announced Monday via his personal Instagram account that he has retired from professional football.
Harris spent his first four seasons with the Patriots before suiting up for six games with the Bills in 2023. He had a limited role for the first six weeks of this past season before suffering a concussion and neck injury and spending hte remainder of the campaign on injured reserve. Rather than attempting to play in 2024, the 27-year-old running back will opt to put his health first and retire at a relatively young age. He finishes his career with 2,485 yards from scrimmage and 21 touchdowns across 44 games.
-
D'Onta Foreman CHI RB
Browns' D'Onta Foreman: Inks deal with Cleveland
9d agoThe Browns and Foreman agreed to a contract Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
After an injury-riddled start to his career, Foreman has carved at a role in three different backfields over the last three campaigns, averaging 54.4 rushing yards per game and racking up 12 touchdowns on the ground in 35 appearances between the Titans, Panthers and Bears. With his new team, he could get in the act early on if Nick Chubb's recovery from a serious knee injury delays his 2024 season debut, but Jerome Ford likely still would be the team's top back in that scenario.

-
Josh Reynolds DEN WR
Broncos' Josh Reynolds: Joining Denver's WR corps
2d agoReynolds agreed Wednesday with the Broncos on a two-year contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Per Garafolo, Reynolds' deal with Denver is worth a maximum of $14 million. The wideout, who turned 29 years old last month, is coming off a 2023 campaign in which he caught 40 of his 64 targets for 608 yards and five touchdowns in 17 regular-season contests for Detroit. With the Broncos, Reynolds will help fill the void created by the recent trade of Jerry Jeudy to the Browns. Reynolds will have a chance to compete with Tim Patrick (Achilles) and Marvin Mims for targets behind No. 1 wideout Courtland Sutton.

Amon-Ra St. Brown DET WR
Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown: Talking extension
3d agoSt. Brown is discussing an extension with the Lions, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
The 2021 fourth-round pick is entering the final season of his rookie contract, after catching 315 passes for 3,588 yards and 21 touchdowns through his first three years. It's likely only a matter of time before St. Brown becomes one of the highest-paid non-QBs in the league, though he may be hesitant to sign before seeing what other top WRs about to hit the open market end up getting, such as Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and Ja'Marr Chase. In any case, St. Brown will be back as the lead target for quarterback Jared Goff in a talented Detroit offense that looks set to return either nine or 10 starters from last season plus a handful of key backups.
-
Calvin Ridley TEN WR
Titans' Calvin Ridley: May be used like Ja'Marr Chase
3d agoTitans coach Brian Callahan told ESPN's Kevin Clark that he envisions Ridley's role as being "very similar" to what Ja'Marr Chase did for the Bengals.
Chase is bigger, stronger and probably also faster, not to mention he has Joe Burrow throwing him the ball rather than Will Levis. Still, it's promising that Callahan -- the former offensive coordinator in Cincinnati -- hopes to have Ridley mimic Chase's usage, as the 2021 fifth overall pick got a lot of easy receptions the past two years, including 35 targets behind the line of scrimmage in 2023 (tied for second most among WRs). Ridley saw eight passes behind the line last season in Jacksonville and got only 22 percent of his targets between the numbers, whereas Chase drew 44 percent of his looks in the middle part of the field. The Titans do have other solid options for screens and quick passes, however, with Ridley joined by DeAndre Hopkins and Treylon Burks at wide receiver, tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo and running backs Tyjae Spears and Tony Pollard.
-
Christian Watson GB WR
Packers' Christian Watson: Team optimistic after testing
3d agoThe Packers feel like they have a better understanding of Watson's injury issues after he underwent a body scan at University of Wisconsin-Madison earlier this offseason, Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com reports.
Hamstring problems resulted in multi-game absences three times during Watson's first two NFL seasons, and he was removed early from other contests with a concussion (Week 8 of 2022), chest injury (Week 9 of 2022), hip injury (Week 16 of 2022) and back/chest injury (Week 9 of 2023). It's a worrying list of medical problems for someone with only 953 career snaps -- essentially one season's worth -- but Watson has mostly been effective when available, catching 69 of 119 targets for 1,033 yards and 12 touchdowns and taking 11 carries for 91 yards and two additional scores. The 2022 second-round pick is part of one of the deepest group of pass catchers in the league, with Green Bay having six players who recorded over 350 receiving yards last season, all of them rookies or second-year pros. Watson's 4.36 speed is unique among that group, but durability and workload concerns remain a significant part of the fantasy equation even if the Packers are feeling more optimistic about his chances of staying relatively healthy in 2024.
-
Odell Beckham Jr. BAL WR
Odell Beckham: Weighing offer from Dolphins
4d agoMiami has extended a contract offer to Beckham, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Beckham visited the Dolphins last week, and coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that the team has an offer extended to the veteran wideout. With Cedrick Wilson having departed in free agency, Miami is in need of a No. 3 wide receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and Beckham likely would offer the team an upgrade over what's been fielded at that spot in recent years. Though the 31-year-old finished with just 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games for the Ravens last season, including two playoff matches, it's difficult to think of a landing spot better for Beckham's potential fantasy prospects than with the Dolphins.

Luke Schoonmaker DAL TE
Cowboys' Luke Schoonmaker: Rehabbing from shoulder surgery
3d agoSchoonmaker (shoulder) is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and is expected to be ready for training camp, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Schoonmaker is coming off a quiet rookie campaign in which he secured just eight of 15 targets for 65 yards and two touchdowns over 17 regular-season appearances. While the tight end didn't miss any time, it appears the 2023 second-round pick was hampered by a shoulder issue. Another offseason to get acquainted with Dallas' offense and build chemistry with Dak Prescott could allow Schoonmaker to improve his production during the 2024 season, but he figures to remain behind jake Ferguson on the depth chart.
-
George Kittle SF TE
49ers' George Kittle: Recovering from core muscle surgery
4d agoGM John Lynch said Monday that Kittle is recovering from an offseason procedure intended to address a core muscle injury, and that the tight end is on track to be fully cleared by training camp, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Kittle also recently restructured his contract, a move that freed up roughly $10 million in cap space for the 49ers, likely by converting a portion of his base salary for 2024 into a bonus. Across 16 regular-season games last year, the two-time All-Pro secured 65 of 90 targets for 1,020 yards and six scores. Recovery from core muscle surgery shouldn't impede Kittle's ability to participate in on-field reps this offseason, though even if he did sit out a portion of training camp, it wouldn't impact the veteran tight end's status as one of the top fantasy options amid a sparse positional landscape.
-
Hayden Hurst LAC TE
Chargers' Hayden Hurst: Signs with Chargers
13d agoHurst agreed to a deal with the Chargers on Friday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reported Thursday that Hurst visited Los Angeles after being released by Carolina on Wednesday. The Chargers' pass-catching corps will look very different in 2024 after Keenan Allen (heel) was traded to the Bears on Thursday, Mike Williams (knee) was released Wednesday, and tight end Gerald Everett departed to the Bears on Tuesday. Hurst missed the final eight games of 2023 due to a concussion and recorded 18 catches on 32 targets for 184 yards and one touchdown.
-
Chris Manhertz NYG TE
Giants' Chris Manhertz: Catches on with New York
14d agoThe Giants have agreed to terms with Manhertz, Darryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Manhertz, who turns 32 next month, has logged a total of 26 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns over the course of 120 games since entering the NFL in 2016. While the 6-foot-6, 235-pounder is off the fantasy radar, he does offer value as a blocker and can contribute on special teams. In any case, Manhertz, along with fellow newcomer Jack Stoll, bolsters the Giants' depth at tight end with top pass-catching option Darren Waller considering retirement.
-
George Kittle SF TE
49ers' George Kittle: Restructures contract
14d agoKittle and the 49ers have reached agreement on a restructured contract, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
This likely has no impact on Kittle's standing or future; it's probably just converting his base salary into bonus money and/or adding void years to clear up 2024 cap space. The 49ers have been tight up against the cap for a few seasons now, consistently in win-now mode with a star-studded roster that includes Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk as playmakers on offense. An extension for Aiyuk could be on the docket this offseason, as he's scheduled to play out 2024 under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Kittle, meanwhile, has two years left on his deal.

Greg Joseph MIN K
Packers' Greg Joseph: Lands in Green Bay
3d agoThe Packers signed Joseph to a contract Tuesday, his agent Brett Tessler reports.
Joseph gives Green Bay an experienced veteran option to compete with Anders Carlson, a 2023 sixth-round pick who converted 27 of 33 field-goal attempts (82 percent) and 34 of 39 extra-point attempts as a rookie. Joseph converted 24 of 30 field-goal tries (80 percent) and 36 of 38 extra-point attempts over 17 games with the Vikings last season.
-
Cade York CLE K
Browns' Cade York: Signs with Cleveland
6d agoThe Browns signed York on Saturday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
York spent last season on the practice squads of the Titans and Giants after the Browns cut him following training camp last summer. A 2022 fourth-round pick by Cleveland, York made just 24 of 32 field-goal attempts (75 percent) as a rookie before losing his job after one season. York joins Dustin Hopkins and Lucas Havrisik at kicker for Cleveland.
-
Joey Slye JAC K
Jaguars' Joey Slye: Signing with Jacksonville
11d agoSlye is signing a one-year contract with the Jaguars, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Jags and Commanders now have swapped kickers, after Brandon McManus signed with Washington last week. The difference is that McManus figures to essentially be handed a starting job, whereas Slye is less proven and may have to compete with reserve/future signee Riley Patterson. Slye's career field-goal percentage (82.3) and PAT percentage (88.5) both are subpar by modern standards, though he does have a strong leg and has made 20 of 32 tries from 50-plus yards in his career.
-
Nick Folk TEN K
Titans' Nick Folk: Re-ups with Tennessee
16d agoFolk agreed Wednesday with the Titans on a one-year, $3.76 million contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Folk enjoyed an excellent campaign with Tennessee last season, converting 29 of 30 field-goal attempts and 28 of 30 extra-point tries. The veteran is entering his age-39 season but remains one of the NFL's most reliable placekickers, so bringing him back on a one-year deal is a sensible move for the Titans. Folk's contract reportedly maxes out at $4.13 million with incentives.
-
John Parker Romo MIN K
Vikings' John Parker Romo: Signs with kicker-less Vikings
16d agoRomo signed a contract with the Vikings on Wednesday.
Romo excelled in the XFL in 2023, making 17 of 19 field-goal attempts, including nine of 10 from beyond 40 yards. He has yet to play in a regular-season NFL game, but Romo currently occupies the top spot on Minnesota's organizational depth chart, as 2023 Vikings kicker Greg Joseph is a free agent.
-
Jake Elliott PHI K
Eagles' Jake Elliott: Secures four-year extension
16d agoElliott and the Eagles agreed Wednesday on a four-year, $24 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Elliott's annual average salary of $6 million ties him with Justin Tucker as the highest-paid kicker in NFL history, per Schefter. The 29-year-old turned in a career-best season in 2023, converting 30 of 32 field-goal attempts while missing just of 46 extra-point attempts. His 32 field-goal attempts ranked just 16th in the league, however, due in no small part to the Eagles' 59.7 percent touchdown rate in the red zone (ninth in the NFL).

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
23h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
23h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.

Jimmie Ward HOU SAF
Texans' Jimmie Ward: Injury-marred 2023
23h agoWard (quadriceps) recorded 50 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2023.
Ward, a team captain, was beset by injuries all season long. He missed time due to hip, hamstring and shoulder injuries before a quadricep ended his season in December. In between the setbacks, Ward played well, and his one interception was an end-zone pick that sealed a win over Denver. Houston went 6-4 in games he played and could use his stabilizing presence on the back end. Ward turns 33 in July and will be entering his 11th season.
