Hey, y’all. I am Shay. This is thebuzzr podcast. On air indie, from my pad to yours over the airways. Join me with Joshua Bartholemew and Lisa Harriton on Monday’s show. I chat with the LA based duo about their current music, spinning recent releases. Lisa is American, Joshua is Canadian. ‘I LOVE DANGER’ came out July 1st on CANADA DAY! Joshua was inducted to the Petawawa Hall Of Fame in Canada at the end of June. littleDNGR is a musical duo consisting of Grammy and Oscar nominated songwriters, Joshua Bartholomew and Lisa Harriton. Equal parts brooding and epic, this musical love-affair lives in a world of cinematic soundscapes, anthemic choruses, big riffs and electro-beats. We call it cinema grunge-pop. Tracks: 'Brand New World' (before show) & 'I LOVE DANGER’ during our chat. Thank you for tuning in. Cheers! Shay From the Artists littleDNGR is a musical duo consisting of Grammy and Oscar nominated songwriters, Joshua Bartholomew and Lisa Harriton. Equal parts brooding and epic, this musical love-affair lives in a world of cinematic soundscapes, anthemic choruses, big riffs and electro-beats. We call it cinema grunge-pop. "i love DANGER" is one of the first songs we wrote for littleDNGR and it all came together in less than an hour. The lyrics, the basic production, everything. Like it was just waiting for us to acknowledge it and bring it to life. This band was born as a response to us feeling a little burnt out from writing and producing music for, what felt like, everybody but ourselves. We felt a little bit crazy cause things were going very well, but we knew we needed to do something dangerous. We needed to bet on the house, even if it meant the house could come crashing down. So we channeled all of our creative frustration into this "Bonnie & Clyde" kind of love song. When we wrote "trade the cross for a sword" that was about us taking ownership of our creativity and hanging on to each other as we jump off the proverbial cliff. We had planned for "i love DNGR" to be our first release, then the pandemic hit and the energy of this song didn't feel right for the times. We released "Brand New World" in July 2020, but it was such a frustrating process. We couldn't really leave the house to support the release, live shows were impossible. As the lockdowns continued and the future became increasingly uncertain, we decided to focus on writing and recording more material until it felt right to start releasing music again. Here we are, two whole years later and we are so stoked to finally share what we've been working on. We've got a ton of new music that we plan to release over the coming months and "i love DANGER" is just the beginning. Facebook Twitter Instagram External-link-alt

 Ralphy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:58

Hey, y’all. I am Shay. This is thebuzzr podcast. On air indie, from my pad to yours over the airways. Tonight I chat with RALPHY. Ralphy is an Aussie creative making waves in the LA music scene, well known for her incredible live shows. Enjoy the show! Thank you for tuning in. Enjoy the show! 10 P.M. EST at https://www.thebuzzrpod.com Track lineup: “Unplugged” during the show. Cheers! Shay From the Artist There must be something in the water down under, because here comes another amazing Aussie making waves here in the US. In 2016 Ralphy made a huge splash in the LA scene with her single ‘Lover’, the passionate forerunner to her debut album ‘PeaceLover’. Since then she’s received an overwhelming response to her heart-pounding music and electric live performances, taking LA by storm as an independent pop sensation. While her simmering, sultry singing is the most striking Ralphy quality, what this stage siren has really become most widely known for is her incredible live shows. With their dynamic choreography and high-fashion dance aesthetic, Ralphy captures the true meaning of performance, elevating her audience into a beautiful space of love, freedom, and expression. As a proud advocate of equal rights and an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, this is what Ralphy’s all about: “I just want the world to remember gratitude and how good it feels to be in the moment, have fun, and respect each other. We are all so lucky to have this thing called life and we owe it to ourselves to live it with LOVE.” Ralphy never breaks her stride: after a whirlwind two years performing at quintessential Los Angeles venues, including the Hotel Café main room, the Viper Room, Rage, The Rose, The Mint, El Cid, and more, 2019 was a prolific recording year. Things kicked things off with the release of her hotly anticipated single ‘Hesitate’, a slick R&B number that was a stylistic departure from her previously more disco-inspired grooves, which was followed by ‘Stones’, a smoldering collaboration with Brazilian pop singer Tiago and LA R&B singer Justin Green. Ralphy then rounded out the season with the release of ‘Can’t Sleep’, her darkest track yet, with its moody, ‘80s new wave feel. Despite the unprecedented global social climate of the following year, 2020 marked the release of still more singles: the emotional ‘Confess’ and up-and-at-‘em ‘Dancing on a HeartBreak’. Not only did she continue to deliver heartfelt, high-energy hits, but she did one better: Ralphy performed in a number of live virtual shows, proving that her captivating performances translate across mediums. This year saw Ralphy’s return to the stage with her first in-person show post-pandemic, her Out From Under concert. This triumphant, electrifying return marked the start of more great things to come from this artist, including remixes of her most recent singles, plus an acoustic version of Confess, and more. So keep your eyes and ears open—you definitely won’t want to miss what Ralphy has happening next! https://youtu.be/-kT6dfXeHww Directed by Maya Miller- Edited Matthew Diebler - Styled & Ralphy Makeup & Hair - Ralphy Facebook Twitter Youtube Vimeo-v Instagram Soundcloud Spotify External-link-alt

 Subterfuge | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:23

Hey, y’all. I am Shay. This is thebuzzr podcast. On air indie, from my pad to yours over the airways. On Monday's show, Lars from the German band SUBTERFUGE joins the show to chat with me about their newest album drop Dots, and spin a few tracks. Enjoy the show! Thank you for tuning in. Enjoy the show! 10 P.M. EST at https://www.thebuzzrpod.com Track lineup: “Licentiousness” before the show and “Why Do I Always Fail To Win” during the show. Cheers! Shay About the Band 30 years of Subterfuge. 30 years of indie pop from Düsseldorf. Having grown up together – jointly, side by side and for each other – and with hundreds of true tales in the backpack, here is their new album Dots. Dots. is nothing less than a biography. Not only that of Subterfuge, ours as well. Vibrant and ever-changing harmonic vocals about life as it is: warm and touching, surprising, dissonant, full of love and also brittle at times. College rock with kids on the passenger seat. Metropoli- tan country, Subpop in perfection – often 60s, preferably psychedelic, but never aiming for a downfall. Rather the opposite – their fifth album turns out to be their most positive. And it’s the musical coincidence of six boys that know they will have each other for life. No kitsch here, no plastic romance, no superfluous drama. Just real life turned into music. Our life. Our own soundtrack. - Yessica Yeti Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram External-link-alt https://youtu.be/KmZIkic5duA Official Video for Licentiousness from our new album "Dots." (Less Records). Lisa Froment has created an anthem to help you come strong from an unhealthy relationship with a cheater. If you’ve ever been in a relationship when you found that your partner was so full of lies, you’ll relate strongly to “Baby Daddy” by the Canadian artist, Lisa Froment. But this isn’t a tearjerker single; rather, it’s an empowering one to make you realize your worth and give the cheater up with no regrets. Enjoy the show! Thank you for tuning in. Enjoy the show! 10 P.M. EST at https://www.thebuzzrpod.com Track lineup: “Move Me” at show intro; “Baby Daddy” during show. Cheers! Shay About the Artist Lisa is a singer-songwriter & musician from Timmins, Canada. Lisa was born in Timmins Ontario and grew up in Wawa Ontario which is 3.5 hours away from Timmins. Her main instrument is guitar. Secondaries are the flute, drums and accordion. The artist’s influences encompass all music styles and types. From pop to rock, to country, and rap. Her favorite is 80’s rock. The timeless sound evokes memories. She grew up listening to Megadeth, Metallica, even Marilyn Manson, NINE INCH NAILS… to Journey, Heart, Toronto, Eric Clapton, Faith Hill, and Shania Twain. Her influences are across the board. Lisa was surrounded by music from a young age. She is from a musical family with both sides of the family talented musicians. It was natural to dabble into music. She picked up the guitar at age 12 learning by ear on her own. “We didn’t have YouTube at the time. I sat in my bedroom with my guitar and would listen to some Eric Clapton and would pause the music, figure it out, rewind, play again, try to figure it out… until I did, then continued the song. I spent hours learning songs by ear and figured out chords, and what sounded right and what did not.” Christmas time in a traditional French home means, the wooden spoons, the violins, the guitars, the accordions, mandolins, and of course the singing. Singing just came naturally and discovered her voice at about 11 years old. She joined the elementary school choir and had the best music teachers. Mademoiselle Corrine Thomas and Mme Rancourt, accompanied by Mme Besner on piano. They taught her how to harmonize. “Not only that I got it right, but I knew the difference between hitting the wrong note and landing it every time because it’s what sounds right to the ear. I can’t read a music note to save my life but if a bass or guitar, a vocalist hits a wrong note? I’ll catch it right away.” Personal reflection from the artist: “If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’re going to keep getting what you’ve been getting. If you want change, YOU must change, YOU must make the right decisions based on what YOU want. It’s your life, live it for you. No one else will live it for you or make your dreams come true. Only YOU can make that happen. Don’t wish on anything, take the proper steps to make it happen. Or you will wake up one day, an elderly, and regret that you have not gone for it. Tomorrow is never promised, so do it NOW.” Lisa has played many gigs, and festivals over the years. In her hometown of Timmins, the Stars And Thunder concert. On the bill were Brian Adams, Blue Rodeo, Tom Cochrane, Keith Urban and many more artists.

 The Banquets | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:31

Hey, y’all. I am Shay. This is thebuzzr podcast. On air indie, from my pad to yours over the airways. Monday night, Gem & Leon from The Banquets join the podcast. We caught up with the band. Gem opens up about the inspiration behind their latest release and her own journey with depression. Leon has some insightful views on people coping with the pandemic. The Banquets roared onto the music scene in 2019. Fans love their rambunctious energy and unique blend of country, indie and rock. The Banquets have gone from strength to strength. Born from humble beginnings, fast becoming a band to watch. They have been on thebuzzr playlist since my first listen. Tracks played tonight: “The Beautiful” Influences for the song: The lyrics tell a semi-autobiographical story of lead singer Gem’s ongoing battle with depression. Lyrical inspiration came from a line in Emily Dickinson’s poem As Imperceptibly as Grief. A passage in the poem reads “Our summer made her light escape into the beautiful”. Thank you for tuning in. Enjoy the show! 10 P.M. EST at https://www.thebuzzrpod.com Cheers! Shay Band Bio The Banquets are an alt- rock/pop trio from Leeds with talent in their souls and ambition in their hearts. They had an explosive arrival to the music scene in 2019 and 2020, making an appearance at the Great British Folk Festival, and supporting the likes of The South (formerly The Beautiful South) and legendary icon Toyah Wilcox. The Banquets’ music is a simple mix of rock, blues, and pop music, whilst maintaining the great tradition of British rock. The musical influences of the band stretch far and wide, and go right back to the early 20th century blues scene. Their sound is hugely impacted by the music that has flowed out of America over the last century, and like most British music, it reflects back that sound and rubs in some northern British magic. https://youtu.be/M6zeGxko--k Facebook Link Youtube Spotify Soundcloud Instagram

Edgar Allan Poets | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:24

Hey, y’all. I am Shay. This is thebuzzr podcast. On air indie, from my pad to yours over the airways. Chris Mariotti is my guest from noir rock band EDGAR ALLAN POETS. Join us at 10 p.m. EST (Toronto). The Edgar Allan Poets are an alternative band that promotes a dark and intense sound that's being called noir rock. Their music is a mix of grunge guitars, classical strings and lyrics that evoke tales shrouded in shadow and mystery. The Poets are two rock noir artists inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe. With comparisons to the music of Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Him, the Poets have produced well received tunes like Cryptic Code and Crow Girl. It is a strong sound with a voice as unique as it gets. Tracks played tonight: “THOSE WHO CARE” and “BLACK CLOWN” from the 555 album out April 7, 2022. The entire album is on thebuzzr playlist. Absolutely hands down love this band! Thank you for tuning in. Enjoy the show! Cheers! Shay From the band Edgar Allan Poets call their genre "Noir Rock" because their music is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's tales and Hitchcock's movies. Their sound is deep and intense, a mix between grunge guitars and classical strings. The band: Chris Is: (Vox/Guitar) The Shadow: (Drums) The Edgar Allan Poets are an alternative band that promotes a dark and intense sound that's being called noir rock. Their music is a mix of grunge guitars, classical strings and lyrics that evoke tales shrouded in shadow and mystery. The Poets are two rock noir artists inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Chris Mariotti from Italy. His family traveled and part of his major locations included Algeria, South Africa and, eventually, Los Angeles, California. It was during his life in Italy that the artist began taking his music seriously, playing guitar and composing. The Poets' other major member is The Shadow from the Northern Lands, the drummer coincidentally lived in Italy before landing in Los Angeles. He was studying music, getting a degree in percussions. He'd actually met Chrisis in Italy. Chrisis had been through several bands before he and The Shadow decided to form a group. While Chrisis and Shadow are the primary members of Edgar Allan Poets, they have also collaborated with other amazing musicians. With Chrisis on the vox and guitar, and Shadow handling drums and keys, their deep admiration of Poe's gothic work, as well as their mutual love of Alfred Hitchcock films, is evident, inspiring the direction and sounds of their work. With comparisons to the music of Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Him, the Poets have produced well received tunes like Cryptic Code and Crow Girl. It is a strong sound with a voice as unique as it gets. With many influences that include grunge, rock, darkwave and Goth, the artists are constantly in search of sounds and elements that will keep their style in a class by itself. Noir rock is intriguing and obsessive, filled with imagery of naked fetuses, black feathers and merciless winds. Every track deserves more than one listen, and each one reveals something new. On the Poets' website, you can play and enjoy their noir rock. It's an open community with Chrisis and Shadow sharing everything they love about music and their influences, as well as their videos. They have tributes and peeks at the works of Poe, Hitchcock, and other artists and works, and culture in general. They also invite visitors to share their own artwork, videos and comments. Subscribe to their YouTube channel and join the noir rock family on Facebook. Critics and fans do agree that if you enjoy Hitchcock movies and Edgar Allan Poe, the music of the Edgar Allan Poets and the world they want to share is more than worth a listen. It might even be worth two, and forever more.

 Rich Chambers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:29

Hey, y’all. I am Shay. This is thebuzzr podcast. On air indie, from my pad to yours over the airways. Today on the show, Canadian artist Rich Chambers. Chambers has countless single and album releases planned for well into 2022 as he sets out to establish himself as the voice of vintage yet freshly modern Rock n’ Roll for the 2020s! Tracks played tonight: I Wonder, I’m So Tired. Thank you for tuning in. Enjoy the show! Cheers! Shay From The Artist Full Bio from artist From humble and modest beginnings to redefining 60s and classic rock, Rich Chambers’ musical story is not unlike that of countless other musicians, or anyone in any career for that matter. Discovering a passion for the guitar at age 10, and an even greater passion for songwriting at 14, he embarked on a life-long commitment to music and songwriting. Like any successful individual, he is all about commitment, dedication, hard work, maintaining perspective, and believing in himself. Chambers’ journey has not been without its bumps though. After completing high school, he was so sure he would be the next big thing, until countless nights playing in many cheesy dives, for at best a round or two of cheap draught beer, taught him otherwise. It was then he made an important, life-changing decision—he went back to school, which eventually led to a bachelor’s degree in English and later a master’s degree in Humanities. As Chambers so enthusiastically always says, “education rocks!” Along the way, Chambers’ rock n’ roll journey always kept moving. As a solo artist, and previously with his band Half-Hour Late, he released numerous albums and singles. His most successful song to date, has been his cover of "Snow Miser vs. Heat Miser" from his first album, ‘Santa’s Rockin’ Band,’ which was released soon after his first university graduation in the days before Spotify and on-line music sales and streaming. Once iTunes hit, and later Spotify, “Snow Miser vs. Heat Miser” began to really resonate with people and rise in popularity. It has since been downloaded over 18,000 times in the last ten years and streamed approximately 900,000 times in the past three.
