This week in SEO News with Christopher. In what shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Site Page Speed still matters. Portent marketing agency released data on 10 websites spanning a number of industries and 26,000 different landing pages ranging from extremely slow to extremely fast. As in previous studies the results showed that for every second you can shave off your page load speed, conversion rates went up. Pages that loaded in under one second converted at a rate of around 2.5 times higher than pages that loaded slower than five seconds. But the gains weren’t limited to fast vs. slow pages. The difference in conversion rates between “fast” pages (two-second load times) and “really fast” pages (under one second) was also more than double. --- Listen to the podcast for even more SEO and Digital Marketing news. This week in SEO News with Christopher. Google Launched a Series of Blog Posts Highlighting the Value of SEO. The first case study in this series was shared by Google’s Gary Illyes and goes over one company's seo efforts over the years. The company spent an entire year dedicated to finding and fixing crawling errors identified by Search Console. This alone lead to a 15% increase in organic search traffic. For the next step the company in the case study focused on implementing gradual changes such as: Removing poorly written and unhelpful meta tags. Using rel-canonical and removing duplicate content. Applying applicable structured data. Eventually, the errors in Search Console’s Index Coverage report turned from red to green. This led to an  increase in organic traffic. Along with the increase in organic traffic, the quality of traffic also went up. This week in SEO News with Christopher. Pinterest is rolling out its new Verified Merchant Program, which comes with a blue checkmark and other perks. In addition to the launch of the Verified Merchant Program, Pinterest is also introducing new conversion metrics and dynamic retargeting. Right now each merchant account has to be manually reviewed for approval and is only available in the United States. Besides that all so beautiful blue check mark Verified Merchants will get a special “Shop” tab at the top of their profiles, which puts all of their shoppable products in one place. This week in SEO News with Christopher. Google My business adds the ability to mark your Business as temporarily closed. If you login to your Google My Business account and click on edit your information, you will be given a new option to "mark as temporarily closed." Previously you were unable to do this from Google My Business. The update should stick around past the current Covid 19 outbreak.
