The Symbionese Liberation Army was a left wing group active from 1973-1975 and was considered by the FBI as a terrorist organization. They are probably most remembered for their kidnapping of media tycoon William H. Hearst's daughter Patty Hearst in which they brainwashed her in to becoming a member. Although claiming to want peace in the world, they commited bank robberies, bombings, and murder and were involved in one of the largest police shootouts in history where over 9,000 rounds were fired between them and the police. In the summer of 1977, the People's Temple leader Jim Jones fled to Guyana with his almost 1,000 followers to escape "intense media scrutiny." They formed a settlement called Peoples Temple Agricultural Project commonly known as Jonestown. In part one we go through a little bit of the background of the Peoples Temple and what led up to them going to Guyana and life in the early days of the settlement. We end with the formation of the "Concerned Relatives" which was a group of former members or family members of those currently in Guyana which led to Senator Leo Ryan paying Jonestown a visit setting up the sequence of events that would follow which we will cover in part 2! On February 28th 1997 one of the most famous "caught on tape" shootouts occurred. Two heavily armed AND armored bank robbers engaged police in a lengthy shootout outside of a Bank Of America location in North Hollywood. About 1,700 rounds were fired when it was all said and done and this incident paved the way for arming rank-and-file police officers with semi-automatic weapons, previously only issued to swat teams. On this episode we have what was then known as "The Crime Of The Century" On March 1st 1932, the son of famous aviator Charles Lindbergh was kidnapped. A ransom note was found at the scene demanding $50,000 for the safe return of the boy. Unfortunately 2 months later the child was found dead by the side of the road. We follow the investigation, the search for the kidnapper, the suspect being caught, tried and sentenced to death for murder. We wrap up the Bombing Of UA Flight 629 with the FBI investigation in full swing. The evidence is stacked against Jack Graham, whose mother Daisie was on board the flight. It turns out that Jack snuck a bomb disguised as a gift into his mother's luggage in order to get her life insurance policy. The case then heads to trial where Jack's fate is decided.

At 6:52 P.M. on November 1st, 1955 United Air Lines Flight 629 exploded over Denver, CO killing all 44 people on board. As the FBI rushed to find out the cause, they soon discovered it was a bomb and now turn their focus onto who planted it. The story they unravel points to criminal Jack Graham, whose mother Daisie was on board flight 629. From there, the case continues to get even more crazy!

Albert Nussbaum and Bobby Wilcoxson were bank robbers in the early 1960's. Although not well known to the general public, they were well known to the FBI. Both of the men made the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitive list after a string of bank robberies, including one that resulted in a bank guard getting killed. With the 8 banks they robbed between 1960 and 1962 they netted $250,000 in cash---equivalent to $2.3 million today. This is their story.
