San Luis Valley Voices
Summary: The San Luis Valley is an 8,100 square mile high alpine desert region in south central Colorado. Nestled between two distinct mountain ranges, this vast area is home to farmers, ranchers, entrepreneurs, multi-generational families, business owners and more. It abounds in year-round outdoor recreational activities of many types and is the headwaters area of the mighty Rio Grande River. The Valley as it’s known to locals is home to 6 entire counties and 3 partial counties, with more than 20 towns of various size. SLVoices is “Your Voice in the San Luis Valley” in south central Colorado. We create informational and entertaining podcasts by interviewing local people from local attractions, businesses, organizations and city governments. This helps spread the word about new and exciting endeavors from smaller local artists, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs who are helping to revitalize diminishing downtown areas in the various towns of this area. By doing this we are helping to create opportunities, jobs, and economic growth in some of the most historic and charming towns in the San Luis Valley.

The longest running sustainable energy fair in the country takes place on August 27-28, 2022. It’s the 33nd Annual Crestone Energy Fair, happening in the town of Crestone Colorado. Join Director Lisa Bodey, Producer Nick Nevares and Booking Agent Lydia Sprouts as we discuss this year's events. The OptiMystics Citizens Action Network and The Poor Boy Car Club are hosting the second annual Beer Fest and Car Show on Saturday, August 20th. All the fun and excitement will take place at Chapman Park in Monte Vista, Colorado, from 10:00AM until 6:00PM. It’s so much more than beer and cars, as if that weren’t enough. There’s pugil stick competitions, corn hole games, and sword fighting to delight the whole family. Bring the children for bounce houses, an escape room, belly dancing, games galore, face painting, and of course the lovely Chapman Park playground. And did we mention awesome food? What do yurts, red & green chili, local vendors, the SLV Foods Coalition, live music, a master chef, potato sheds, 3-D printed adobe houses and an old drive-in theater all have in common? The Dish SLV is a community group in the San Luis Valley based in Center Colorado creating connection through food events. The Dish SLV is hosting a free valley preview at the Frontier Drive-Inn Theater, rescheduled for July 9th, 2022. There will be food, games, activities, a red & green chili dish cook off with prizes, live music, local vendors, a movie and so much more.
Pilots Baseball Academy brings professional training to the kids of the San Luis Valley! And the Top of the World Series Baseball Complex will bring children here from all over the world.
