Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we went live on the Amazin’ Avenue Facebook page to eat cookies and talk about all things Mets. We talked about the Mets’ major signings this offseason—Eduardo Escobar, Mark Canha, Starling Marte, and Max Scherzer—and our excitement that Steve Cohen has opened his large purse (perhaps thanks in part to Steven Matz’s agent). We also discuss the Mets’ new manager Buck Showalter and what we think of the hire. In the second half of the show, we discussed recent reporting from the Washington Post about sexual assault allegations against Yasiel Puig that were kept hidden for years as MLB allowed him to continue playing.  Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. In Promote, Extend, Trade, Steve, Lukas, Ken, and Thomas discuss the origin of choice of their super powers, if they had super powers. Following that, they discuss the recent hiring of Buck Showalter as Mets manager. The 65-year-old has been involved in baseball in one way or another since the 1970s. Will his helming the Mets have any kind of impact on the Mets minor league system, good or bad? After, the team discusses Spider-Man because...well, why not?  Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), Episode 84: Who should be Mr. Manager? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3380

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The Mets, and all of Major League Baseball, are in a lock out right now, and so there’s not a ton of Mets-related content to chat about. However, the team is circling around three candidates to manage the team: Buck Showalter, Joe Espada, and Matt Quatraro. Brian and Chris debate the relative merits of each, and discuss their predicted timelines for the lock out. Plus, we pay tribute to Pedro Feliciano and are joined for a quick chat by Trevor May.  From Korriban To Coruscant, Episode 146: The Metsalorian | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4170

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. With the COVID-19 omicron variant spreading, the team discusses other deadly diseases in Promote, Extend, Trade. Following that, they discuss the minor league portion of the 2021 Rule 5 Draft. The Mets selected a pair of pitchers from the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Cubs and lost a pair of pitchers to the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners. After...Well, we jump the Ithorian razor shark. There usually isn’t much minor league action going on between the MLB Winter Meetings and the new year, when we start rolling out our updated prospect rankings, but things are at an even bigger lull this year with the MLB owners lockout. We have a show to record, so we dip into one of the collective fandoms we all share: Star Wars. And, wrapping things up, the Wilponery of the Week! Got questions? Comments? Concerns?  UnforMETable, Episode 74: Pedro Feliciano | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2082

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. A 31st round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pedro Feliciano slowly and steadily worked his way through the minors and across several organizations before being acquired by the Mets in 2002. Feliciano would be up and down in the minors—and overseas in Japan—before returning to the organization prior to the 2006 season. An adjustment to his delivery that he worked on with pitching coach Rick Peterson—turning to more of a three-quarters delivery—would help Feliciano develop into an effective reliever, particularly tough on lefties. Feliciano would thrive and become a mainstay in the Mets bullpen from 2006 to 2010, leading the league in appearances three straight seasons as he would go on to record the second most appearances in franchise history for a pitcher behind John Franco. Feliciano was a presence and positive figure in the organization after his retirement until his tragic and untimely passing earlier this year at the age of 45. If you’ve got an idea for a player to be featured on UnforMETable, let us know in the comments. Make sure to follow Rob on Twitter (@WolffRR), and you can now follow the show, too (@unformetable). Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we are joined by investigative journalist Bradford William Davis and astrophysicist and baseball construction expert Dr. Meredith Wills to discuss Bradford’s recent article for Business Insider on Meredith’s study, which revealed that MLB used two different baseballs with two different performance profiles during the 2021 season. We chat with Bradford and Meredith about the data, what it tells us, the reactions of players and others in baseball to this news, its impact on tensions between the league and the players in the context of the current lockout, and so much more. Video of our conversation—where you can see Meredith’s demonstrations with actual used game balls—is available on the Amazin’ Avenue Facebook page. As we always do, we wrapped things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us, including our guests, talked about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.  From Complex To Queens, Episode 144: Happy Metsgiving! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1395

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. It’s that time of the year, folks. Time to discuss what we’re thankful of. Steve, Lukas, Ken, and Thomas kvetch a whole lot- we’ve made jobs out of it, one can say- but at the end of the day, we do this to ourselves. Being a Mets fan might not be a choice, but the degree of effort that we put into being Mets fans is entirely up to us. Why do we do it? What do we get out of it? The four amigos each take a little time to discuss what they’re thankful for as Amazin’ Avenue writers, as Amazin’ Avenue podcasters, as Mets fans, and as people. Got questions? Comments? Concerns? You can email the show at fromcomplextoqueens at gmail dot com, and follow us on Twitter: Steve is (@stevesypa), Lukas is (@lvlahos343), Ken is (@KenLavin91), and Thomas is (@sadmetsszn). Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The last time we spoke, the Mets' front office was barren, Qualifying Offers were out, and the future didn't look great for 2022. Then, everything changed. The Mets have a new GM in Billy Eppler, a new co-ace in Max Scherzer, a new center fielder in Starling Marte, a new right fielder in Mark Canha, and a new infielder in Eduardo Escobar. This is a shocking turn of events, especially the Scherzer signing, and Brian and Chris get to most of it.
