Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. While I may be a BIG softy at heart, there are not many things in life that bring me to tears. One thing that is a sure fire way to bring on the water works though is to watch the miracle that is life and to watch your own child come into the world. On Saturday the 30th of November, I became a father for the second time and was able to welcome Anna Jean Martin into the world, as she came in kicking and screaming, but well and in great shape. Both the girls had a tough day, but in the end they pulled through with flying colours and I am happy to announce they are both recovering well. I thought I would take this opportunity to sit down and talk about the entire ordeal from my perspective and while my girls sleep, it was a great time to reflect on what was a tough day for all. I have seen an ever increasing trend of people taking my "balance is key", "as long as it fits your calories" advice far too literally and reverting to fasting as a way to "punish" themselves for the food they ate the day before or after a big social weekend. Fasting as an array of positive health and well-being benefits and it is these that you should focus on when looking to include fasting or the no breakfast life as part of your day to day life. What you should NOT use fasting for, is to restrict calories and do so in a way that feels like a punishment for the food you ate yesterday. From the moment I laid my eyes on Amy for the first time in 2007 as she strutted her way down the pool deck after winning yet another swimming race in her illustrious career, I was fixated on getting to know who she was and getting her to notice me. In many ways, we should NEVER have worked and we almost didn't. She was super smart and into books, while I was into video games and growing my biceps in the gym. She was super dedicated to her sport, while I had given up on all sport since retiring from my lack luster career as a tennis player post injury. She was tall, looked like a Greek goddess and was everything I could dream to aspire to have in a partner and I was short, balding and had nothing going for me at the time, apart from a decent 6 pack and biceps. What transpired though was a love affair that has endured some very tough times but also some AMAZING times to produce a wonderful marriage, gorgeous and gleefully cheeky daughter (another on the way as of when this was recorded) and a friendship between two very different, but also very similar people who want nothing more in life than to be happy. A little over 8 months ago Max came to me in my DM's over on Instagram and was desperate for some help to see him curb his ever growing waist line and numbers on the scale. I have had the pleasure of working with Zach for a few years now and I have watched his career as a Personal Trainer develop into forming a niche way about his training and interaction with clients that has seen him and the people he works with, get some GREAT results. While this and his methods are not for everyone, at the end of the day, he gets results!
