Let's Talk Fast show

Let's Talk Fast

Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. I hope you enjoy the content and it helps to spark questions and see you finally take control of your Weight once and for all to see you live a Happy, Healthy and LONG Life.

How To Defeat Chronic Pain with Physiotherapist Alexandra O'Neill-King | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:52:19

This weeks podcast was near and dear to my heart as it allowed me to pull my Exercise Physiology hat back on and talk in detail with something that I directly worked with for over a decade. This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Alex from AOK Keep Moving, who is a Physiotherapist and qualified Pilates instructor who has made it her mission to empower others in their journey of understanding their bodies through education and movement with a very clear and honest approach. In this weeks episode I discuss with Alex the vast range of complications that come with pain and in particular chronic pain and we offer some practical advice that we have both found helpful to our clients to help them move past thier pain and begin to build a strong and resilient body and mind that is less susceptible to future pain episodes. I know that you will come away from this podcast feeling much more informed about pain and have the confidence that you can get better and WILL get better with the right approach.  How Food, Exercise and Sleep Can Affect Your Mood with Louise Victoria | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:46:44

I had the pleasure of speaking with Louise from Brain Gains who is a wealth of knowledge on how to help improve your mood through the food you eat as well as how you manage your sleep, exercise and other aspects of your life. After moving to London from her small town of Somerset and dealing with her own mental health issues such as anxiety and depression and being handed a concoction of medications from her GP that did little to help, she sort to find a way through lifestyle modifications. The next 10 years has been a journey of ups and downs, but through that time Louise has been able to find herself in a VERY happy and healthy place and she puts a lot, if not all, of that down to the changes she has made to her sleep, food she eats, exercise she does and the morning routine she now lives by. This was a great episode and I really enjoyed talking to Louise and diving deeper into how the things we do and things we eat every day can have such a positive or negative effect on our lives. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!!  5 Steps to Mastering Your Morning Routine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:27:41

You have no doubt heard me talk about the book by Robin Sharma called the 5AM Club. It is a great read and if you haven't listened to it or read it yet, I highly recommend it is the next read you have. I've been a morning person for well over 15 years, as running my business has forced me to get up to see my first client by 6am. My morning routine must be on point as I need to be at my best both mentally and physically in order to help my clients recover from serious injuries, lose fat and to help them live their best life. Over the years I have read countless books on WHY a morning routine is so important, but have rarely (until the 5AM club) heard people talk through a practical step by step of WHAT to do. This is what this podcast is all about and will have you hear me talk you through my 5 step morning routine process and lay out a pathway for you to take action right away and for you to master your morning. If you can take action on what you hear me talk about and put your health and well-being as the number 1 priority in the first hour of your day, I GUARANTEE that this podcast and it's contents will change your life!!! I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!!  Answering All Of Your Questions On Our Move To Perth | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:41:38

I have been all over the place for the past couple of weeks and I PROMISE that next week this podcast will return to its usual content of talking about Fat Loss, Fasting, Fitness and Food. With that said, this week Amy and I finally secured a home to rent in Perth which was the final big hurdle to make Perth our home for the foreseeable future. This home is a place that we could see ourselves living in for YEARS to come and we are so excited to begin our lives here and to see what this city and state has to offer. I put up a question box over on my Instagram page for people to ask ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they wanted about the move to Perth and we received a TONNE of replies. This weeks podcast is our answers to those questions as well as a life update on where our little family of 4 is at and what the next year will hopefully look like for us all. I hope you enjoy the episode and thank you for the continued support you have all shown this podcast since it's beginning in 2019 and I hope that this year the podcast can be even bigger and better than it has ever been. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!!  Olivia Wells, Former Miss Universe, and I Talk About Empowering Women and Finding Your Passion | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:45:25

With my move to Perth taking a left turn with a need to now isolate for the next 14 days and having to deal with the ramifications that brings with it, I thought I would go into the vault to bring out an episode from July of 2017. In this episode I spoke to Olivia Wells, who at the time was a 4th year medical student at Monash University, Former Miss Universe Australia (2013) and current mentor for the Miss Universe Australia program. She was also an Ambassador for The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation, The OTIS Foundation and board member for Blue Ribbon Foundation Blue Ribbon Day Olivia was and still is, an INCREDIBLY busy individual and so I want to again thank her for taking the time to talk to me back then and for the great conversation. In that chat we spoke with Olivia to discus her journey from starting out as a young up and coming swimmer to winning the Miss Universe competition and now completing her medical degree. Olivia is a fascinating women and someone that I have had the pleasure to have known for many years and watch grow into the passionate and inspiring women she is today. From her early days as a high level age group swimmer, she has learnt that hard work can help you achieve what you set out to do and this philosophy now see's her in her final year of medical school (has since completed) and looking to work in the field of paediatric brain tumour research. This all took a slight left turn when in her final year of high school, as a joke, she filled out the form to enter the Miss Universe Australia pageant. To her surprise she was selected to move onto the qualifying rounds and would see her go on to win the entire event. She has used this time in the spotlight to further her ambitions to help underprivileged children in developing countries who suffer from disabilities that would otherwise be easy fixes if they had been born in the developed world. It was a fascinating talk and I thoroughly enjoyed my time talking with Olivia and would like to thank her for her time and for sitting down with me to discuss her life to date. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!!  We Are Leaving Melbourne! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:34:56

The title of the podcast likely gives you a very good idea on what it is about, but it is fair to say that I won't be talking about fat loss, calories, protein or anything to do with fasting this week. Amy just found out that she has gotten a new job and it means we are packing up our lives and leaving Melbourne. While it's been a REALLY tough year and this TERRIBLE COVID virus has ruined lives, businesses and economies around the world, for our family, it has been a blessing in disguise. I have been able to move most of my business online which has given me the flexibility to do it from anywhere in the world and allowed Amy to entertain the thought of getting back into the Geology and Mining field that she loves soo very much. We thought we would share this moment in time by talking about what the job is, where we will be moving to and what we believe it will mean for our little family of 4 plus the dog. Should it be of interest to you and you want to find out more, click that link below, have a listen and let us know what you think! Whatever happens, we are excited for the change and can not wait to document the journey and bring you along for that ride!  Fat Burning Zone... Fact or Myth?? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:32:24

A common thing to hear around gyms or running circles many years ago and still to this day (albeit far less common these days), is this idea around a magical "Fat Burning Zone". The body has a number of energy systems that it draws on to help fuel your body during everyday movement, as well as intentional exercise. At lower intensities, the body has more time to process its fuel and shuttle it to the working muscles and it was this that "fueled" (pardon the pun) the idea that telling people to work at lower intensities would help to see them lose more fat during their workouts and exercise. In this weeks episode we talk in more detail about this idea and whether there is any truth to it or if it is a complete myth and what you can do to tailor your exercise to best suit your goals. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!!  From Struggles to Success with Personal Trainer Drew Westfield | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:05

On this week's episode of the Let's Talk Fast podcast, I had the opportunity to speak with personal trainer and business owner of Gript gym, Drew Westfield.  Talking Eating Disorders, Body Image and Self-Love with Nicole Renard | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:26

Nicole Renard grew up as a competitive dancer with the hopes to become a Broadway star and spent most of her childhood years and life in this world, training 10-20 hours a week and becoming immersed in a world that would judge her on the way she looked and how she performed. Her older sister was also a dancer and was someone that Nicole looked up to and always wanted to emulate. Nicole's sister then shared with the family that she had been dealing with an eating disorder and this rocked Nicole's world and in the years that followed, Nicole found herself feeling alone and a need to hide her own struggles with body image, self-love and a want to always be "perfect" After a year living in New Zealand and having to fit in with a bunch of new people that had no idea who she was and make friends with these people, she realised that acceptance from these people came about because of the person she was, not for what she had done or achieved in her life. This stirred a passion in Nicole to share her story with the world and open up with her struggles with body image, eating disorders and feelings of worth and today she is an energetic and fun human being who uses her platform to spread a message of hope, positivity and self-love and I really hope you enjoy this week's podcast and the gold nuggets you will find within our chat.
