Let's Talk Fast

Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. In 2016 my daughter was born and my life, in an instant, was changed forever. I had feelings of joy, terror, excitement and fear of what lay ahead and my thoughts moved to asking myself... "What kind of father will I be to this child and what will she think of me in the years to come?" I grew up in a typical middle class family with loving parents who worked hard, saved their money and brought with them the values of a post war upbringing. While my parents instilled in me work ethic and the value of an honest days work, I knew that I wanted to live a different life and a life that would see me spend EVERY single moment I possibly could with my wife and children. My father worked INCREDIBLY hard (as did my mother) and while he rarely, if ever, missed the really important parts of my upbringing, I really didn't see much of him in the first 16 years of my life. He would travel for work, be up early to head to work for a meeting or get to the gym/run before going to work and was on many occasions home late. So, when I decided to take a year off, just as Amelia was born, I thought I would get a speech that went something along the lines of... "This is no time to mess about and galavant around the world! Time to settle down and be the responsible father you need to be for your family" What I heard though was something MUCH different and what my father told me, inspired me even more so to jump on a plane and never regret taking this time to spend with my girls and take a step back from life in general. This is by far the MOST asked question I get in the DM's of my instagram account and so I thought it is about time I made a podcast that will go into detail about what breaks your fast and what does not break your fast. As the name would suggest, "break-fast" is when you are going from a fasted state to a fed state. While that might seem very straight forward, it can be confusing as to what actually breaks your fast. To get a little nerdy for a second, what breaking your fast technically is, is consuming anything that produces a rise in insulin which will take you from a fasted state into a fed state. This is a really impromptu episode and not what this channel will usually be posting, however, after seeing the movie Free Solo I had to get onto the mic and talk about what I had just witnessed and why I was soo moved by it. If you don't know what the movie is about, it is about the journey by Alex Honnold, considered one of if not the best rock climbers in the world, to climb the El Capitan wall.
