Let's Talk Fast

Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. On the 7th of July, 2019, I was able to tick off a goal I have been working towards for over 3 years now and that was to run a sub 100 min half marathon on race day. After a devastating failed attempt last year in October at the Melbourne running festival, I was about ready to quit and give up any chance of ever running this time. In this podcast I talk about those dark times and what I went through after that failed attempt, surgery to remove my gallbladder and the "FUNK" I found myself in, in March this year. I do hope that the lessons I learnt over this time and detail in this podcast may help you to stay the course and keep working towards the goals you are looking to achieve. Whether you are looking to lose weight, learn a new skill like the guitar, or run your first marathon, you will always face times when you question yourself and what you do at these times will determine your outcome. Around November/December of each year I look through my comments, emails and DM's a little more closely and look to find someone that could use the help of my coaching and accountability program. At the end of 2018, Max weighed in at just over 200kg and was on a straight line to type 2 diabetes, a heart attack and most likely death at a very young age. This week we talk about the 5 (I throw an extra 1 or 2 in the there as an added bonus) most common myths you have no doubt heard and I hear asked in my DM's over on Instagram every single day. Susie from accounting and her best friend Bob the boof head at the gym LOVE to tell you how fasting will put your body into starvation mode, that skipping a meal will slow down your metabolism and that if you skip breakfast you will likely eat yourself to death with a mountain of food later the day. The biggest and most pervasive myth though was and still is, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I discus this and the myths mentioned above and why they have come about, why they are not true and link them to research that has shown these myths to be complete fabrications or misconceptions of the data. I hope you walk away after listening to this episode with a better understanding of why these myths came about, why they are untrue and have the confidence that by starting the no breakfast life that your health is not only in good hands but your decision may be the best thing you could have ever done for your health.
