Let's Talk Fast

Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. I hope you enjoy the content and it helps to spark questions and see you finally take control of your Weight once and for all to see you live a Happy, Healthy and LONG Life.

Finding Your Breaking Point & Going Beyond with Ryan Crawford | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:56:37

This world we live in has by enlarge, made most of us "soft". What I mean by that is, if you don't want to do something then you don't need to and so for most people when things get a little tough, they opt out and call it quits. On this week's podcast I had the pleasure of speaking to Ryan Crawford who has, among other things, achieved a huge amount in his very short Ultra Distance running career and shown himself and those around him just what the human body and mind is capable of when you keep going and DON'T QUIT. Ryan is a former professional Muay Thai fighter and champion and only shifted to running ultra-distance marathons a few years back. Ryan had never run more than a marathon distance before he came first place in his first 100km Ultra Marathon in 2018. Since then, Ryan has gone onto compete in and win many ultra-distance events and in this weeks podcast we talk to Ryan about his grueling training schedule and the huge challenges that he has had to overcome during many of his races. The challenges he goes through go far beyond just the physical and it's Ryan's ability to master his mental efforts that have truly helped him thrive in this sport and it's my hope that you hear some nuggets of information that will help you thrive in your everyday life.  Facing Your Fear of Being Uncomfortable with Aaron Barnes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:57

This week I'm speaking to Aaron Barnes who I came across when scrolling Tik Tok. He is a 26 year old, from Melbourne, who is intentionally putting himself into 100 different uncomfortable situations and documenting the entire thing. I think it's not only a very entertaining series and I can't wait to see how it pans out over the coming months, but it's also going to be a very educational series. The lessons that Aaron will learn over his journey, will undoubtedly help people (and himself) understand that being uncomfortable is a normal emotion and feeling but also NECESSARY for growth and progress in our lives. We ALL fear situations that make us feel uncomfortable, but just like anything, the more you do it the better you get at taking action and so I hope you enjoy this chat and I hope that it may see you become a more action taking person and you no longer let that fear hold you back.  Jacob Andreae and I Talk Work Life Balance and Gluten Free Diets | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:01:40

This week I'm bringing back an episode from the vault and I think the points that were spoken about on this podcast are just as timely today as they were nearly 5 years ago when I spoke to Jacob. On that podcast I had the pleasure of speaking to Jacob Andreae who, among other credentials, was a coach at the Northern Territory Institute of Sport. Born and bread in Darwin Jacob completed a completed a Double degree in sports science and education and was able to land a teaching job straight out of uni. Over the years though Jacob took on more and more, always trying to help people become healthier and better versions of themselves while continuing to attend his teaching job which he loved. This increase in work load, eventually came to a head when his body finally gave up and saw him take almost 4 weeks off work and life in general. From this time Jacob has sought to understand why and how his body went through this episode and it saw him look not only at his physical and psychological health, but also his nutrition. After trying a number of different diets and eating patterns he came across gluten and how it may be affecting him and his health. In this episode we talk at length about mental and physical health, but also, how diet can play a large role in how you feel day to day and how taking care of your nutrition can have a profound affect on your overall health and well being. I would like to thank Jacob for sharing his journey and for being very open and honest about his health story to date.  What's More Important For Exercise - Quality V's Quantity? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:24

In last weeks podcast, I spoke about Quality Vs Quantity with regards to food and what was most important when it comes to fat loss. While I was recording that podcast, it got me thinking... What about exercise? What's most important for exercise and what factors will determine the results and outcomes that you see over the course of your journey.  Quality V's Quantity - What's More Important For Fat Loss? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:24:43

I talk endlessly about the importance of Calories In Vs Calories Out and all to often this message can be taken out of context and abused by people saying... So you're trying to say that 200 calories in a Doughnut is EXACTLY the same as 200 calories in Broccoli. When it comes to CALORIES, they are just a unit of energy and so YES Susie, the 200 calories in a doughnut are exactly the same as the 200 calories in a bunch of broccoli. However, that's not to say the NUTRITIONAL make up of those 200 calories in these 2 very different foods are going to be the same. In this weeks podcast I discus the topics of CALORIES, MACROS and MICROS and how each of these factors play a different role in your fat loss and health journey and how each of them will help you achieve your goals.  What's Next For This Podcast... YOU Decide | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:06:52

I've been debating back and forth with what I should do with this podcast, what direction to take it, as well as whether I should change the name to more closely represent what I want to and like to discuss and talk about with both solo and guest appearance episodes. For that reason this weeks podcast is short, to the point and asks one very simple question. What would YOU like to hear me talk about, what kinds of guests would you like to see me have on and do you prefer the shorter episodes I've been presenting of late or would you prefer either a longer form or REALLY short episodes. I LOVE creating content through podcasts and so I want to make sure that I'm presenting it in a way that you most enjoy and gain value out of and so I ask you... Whats the next step and how can I improve on what I'm currently doing. Thank you for your continued support of this show and I hope that I continue to bring you content that you enjoy, find value with and helps you in life in one way or another.  Do THIS Before Starting Any Fat Loss Journey | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:27:49

Having worked with 100's of clients whose goal is fat loss over the past 15 years, I've been witness to the ENTIRE spectrum of people when it comes to healthy and unhealthy relationships with food and self. On many occasions I've told existing and new clients they would be better suited to first direct their energy on other areas of their life BEFORE trying to lose weight. Doing this has lost me clients and lost potential clients over the years, however, I'm in the business of helping people and if that means I must be open and honest with you and tell you things that you may not WANT to hear, but that you NEED to hear.... Then I'll do it as I know that it will be to your benefit over the long term. This weeks podcast is for those who are struggling to lose weight and have tried dozens of times over the past few years. Have a listen to what I make mention to and I hope it helps you take a step back and potentially GAIN some weight but in the end it helps to see you include healthier habits into your life that will bring long lasting results that are easy to maintain.  5 Ways To Make Tracking Calories Easier | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:27:44

I can scream CALORIE DEFICIT as much as I like and for the most part you likely understand this concept, however it doesn't really give you a very user friendly set of actions that you can to take to help the process by which this occurs. What I mean by that is... You may understand what a calorie deficit is, however if you have no idea how to track your calories or find it incredibly difficult to do, then you'll either never try or give up in the early stages which means you won't truly know how many calories you are consuming. In this weeks podcast, I have listed 5 ways you can make tracking calories easier and in turn make the fat loss process easier.
