PipemanRadio Interviews Lordi | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1046

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Mr. Lordi, an amazing musician and artist known for his music, visuals, cinema, and artistry. Pipeman is impressed by Lordi's latest music video, Dead Again Jayne, and asks him about it. Lordi explains that the video is meant to look like an 80s cable TV horror show showcasing a 1930s old Universal horror movie. He directed and edited the video himself, and he had fun doing two different styles, the 80s cheap cable TV style and the 1930s black and white film style. Lordi reveals that young people today do not understand the concept of television and the old cable TV show since they have never experienced it before. Lordi shares that he has never been on social media and still lives in the 80s and 90s, and he acknowledges that these decades were the greatest. Pipeman agrees, and they discuss how technology has changed the artistry of music videos. Lordi believes that the magic of the videos is gone now that anyone can do it, and the charm is lost. Lordi also talks about one little detail from the video shoot where he noticed that younger film crew members did not know how to use a film camera since everything is now digital. Pipeman and Lordi continue to chat about various topics such as how Lordi likes to scare people and how he sees himself as an entertainer rather than a musician. Lordi also reveals that he is currently working on his autobiography, which he hopes to release soon. Overall, Pipeman and Lordi have a fun and insightful conversation about Lordi's latest music video, the evolution of technology and artistry, and Lordi's upcoming projects. You can get more information on Lordi over at Lordi.fi, as well as on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter under Lordi Official. Screem Writers Guild, a new beast of an album by the beloved Finnish hard rock monster squad, is out TODAY on Atomic Fire Records. Its title — a “LORDIfied” play on words — is a reference to the “Screen Writers Guild,” an association of Hollywood screenplay writers (1920s to 1950s), yet there is no doubt that LORDI‘s musical version is much louder and fiercer. “The record itself isn’t a real concept album, but it obviously plays with the overall cinematic theme,” says Mr. Lordi. Screem Writers Guild was produced by Mr. Lordi with Mana and Janne Halmkrona as executive producers. Ilkka Herkman took care of mixing and Pauli Saastamoinen mastered the record. The artwork was also designed by Mr. Lordi himself who has made a name as director for the band’s vision since the early ’90s. Screem Writers Guild will be available in the following formats: Limited Collector’s Box Set – Includes alternative cover artwork, CD-digipak, 2xLP in gatefold, exclusive Live At Masters Of Rock DVD featuring five live songs, five band member portrait art prints plus LORDI notebook.  PipemanRadio Interviews John DeMena | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 960

In this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to John DeMena, an amazing musician who shares his story of coming to LA and going through the struggles of survival and chasing his dreams in the music industry. John's story was particularly challenging because he landed in LA just two months before the recession hit in 2000. Finding jobs and stability in the music industry was difficult for him. John lived in hostels with six to eight people for three to four months until he got a job and built his credit score. As a young adult, John was naive and didn't know what credit was in America. He thought that having money in his bank account would allow him to rent a place to live, but he was wrong. He had to learn the hard way about building credit and how things worked in America. John's early years in LA were full of challenges, but he survived and learned a lot of discipline. He believes that the difficult times he faced built his character and developed his personality, and he often says that it separates the boys from the men. John also shares his struggles in finding people who were artistically aligned with him or finding affirmation to stay together for a while. Many people come to LA and have to be part of multiple bands to pay their bills. But for John, the only way to move forward was as a solo artist who writes everything and then puts the band together. He developed a DIY approach and did everything himself. Overall, John's story is one of perseverance and determination to make his dreams come true despite the challenging times he faced. If you want to keep up to date with John, you can find him everywhere online under John DeMena, including his new TikTok channel you should definitely check out, and John DeMena Music on Facebook. Be sure to check out his music videos too, which he describes as very diverse, ranging from dystopian to modern, to cyber punk. New album, Dreams and Lies, out now. Featured by MTV Germany for his cover of The Doors' "People Are Strange", as well as outlets like Metal Hammer in Spain, Brave Words, Sonic Perspectives, and more. He is a Spanish immigrant who came to the US to pursue his dreams as an artist. https://www.johndemena.com/Pipeman's Power of Music is a music and interview segment of The Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show (#pipemanradio) and from The King of All Festivals while on The Pipeman Radio Tour.  PipemanRadio Interviews Ondfodt | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1228

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Owe, the frontman, guitarist, and songwriter of the band Ondfodt. Pipeman starts the conversation by praising Owe's talent, and the technicality and speed of his music. Uva agrees that playing an instrument requires years of practice and that even experienced musicians need to practice on a daily basis to maintain their skill levels. He also mentions that drumming is an essential part of their band's music, and it creates the illusion of the guitar being faster than it actually is. Pipeman and Owe then delve into the topic of black metal music. Owe shares his thoughts on the evolution of black metal, stating that it has come a long way and that newer black metal bands are trying too hard to make their music sound unique. He points out that some of the newer bands have good production and techniques but lack the true essence of black metal. Pipeman highlights the importance of practice and dedication to the craft of music. He reminds listeners that even those with natural talent still need to put in the hours to learn and maintain their skills. Uva agrees, adding that while some people may have an easier time learning an instrument, everyone needs to practice to achieve their goals. Overall, the conversation between Pipeman and Uva is an insightful look at the world of music, the challenges of being a musician, and the evolution of black metal. The band members' musical tastes and experiences come from different subgenres, such as power metal, funk, and tribute bands. This eclectic mix of influences adds a unique sound to their music.  PipemanRadio Interviews Good Bison | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 976

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Pablo of Good Bison. Pablo has just released a new EP called "Ghost on Mulholland" and Pipeman is excited to talk about it. He loves the concept of the EP and feels connected to it as he has driven Mulholland himself many times. The EP is not just about music, it also has a short story that goes along with it. Pablo, a writer at heart, talks about the importance of narrative in his music. He mentions that the story of the ghost attached itself to the music while he was working on the EP. The journey was already baked into the songs and it was a personal haunting, dealing with a literal ghost. Inspired by Goosebumps and Stephen King stories, Pablo felt a presence looming over him and he would often drive up and down Mulholland trying to get further away from the ghost. Pipeman and Pablo talk about the ending of the story where it turns out that the ghost was actually a friendly one. They liken it to Casper, the friendly ghost. The ghost had good intentions but was not good at communicating them or giving off a positive appearance. Pablo points out that it can be difficult to face such a situation but once you do, you realize that the ghost was just trying to help. Pipeman mentions that being a ghost could be frustrating as you may not know what's going on and just trying to say hello could come off as traumatizing. Pablo and Abe Mendez, who produced the entire album, were clear about the fact that the EP was a journey. They didn't know what the destination was or what the purpose of the journey was, but it was very much a trip. Pablo believes that in all kinds of trips, you bring something back with you or learn something about yourself. Writing is important to him and he says that good writing brings you on a journey. They were clear that the intent of the EP was to take the listener on a journey and discover something about themselves. You can find Good Bison all over the internet, on all the major streaming platforms and all the major social media networks, so just give them a search and they should show up anywhere you want them, or you can check out their website goodbisonmusic.comPipeman's Power of Music is a music and interview segment of The Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show (#pipemanradio) and from The King of All Festivals while on The Pipeman Radio Tour.  PipemanRadio Interviews Saxon About More Inspirations | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1092

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman welcomes Nigel from Saxon, one of his favorite bands for the past 40 years. Nigel and Pipeman talk about Saxon's new album More Inspirations and the songs that they chose to do their own version of. Nigel talks about the inspiration behind the album and the process of choosing the songs. Pipeman shares his experience of being mesmerized by Ronnie James Dio's voice during a Black Sabbath concert back in the day. He also talks about how Saxon nailed "Man on the Silver Mountain" on the album, which was a Rainbow song with Dio singing. Nigel shares that the band are huge Rainbow fans, and Ronnie was a friend of theirs, so it just made sense to do it. Nigel also talks about the process of trying to "Saxon" each song, as they wanted to put their own flavor to it, which he believes they have achieved. He mentions that the whole band was involved in choosing the songs, and it was a lot of fun. There wasn't any song that they had a hard time agreeing on. The album, according to Pipeman, sounded like Saxon and not like the original songs, which Nigel says was intentional. Be sure to pick up your copy of the new album off you usual music selling platforms, like Amazon, and keep an eye out for next year when they’ll be releasing another studio album which is super excitingPipeman's Power of Music is a music and interview segment of The Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show (#pipemanradio) and from The King of All Festivals while on The Pipeman Radio Tour.  PipemanRadio Interviews HIM of Sermon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 881

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to HIM from Sermon, to talk about their new album and the state of the world today. The conversation starts with Pipeman telling HIM that he is excited to have them on the show because they have some killer new music. HIM thanks Pipeman for the introduction and Pipeman responds by saying that he is from the New York, New Jersey area and he is brutally honest. HIM jokingly says that Pipeman should have told them if their music was crap. This sparks an idea in Pipeman’s mind to start off all interviews in the same manner. Pipeman talks about how HIM’s new album is all about what the world is going through today and how hateful people are, which really burns him all the time. This is why Pipeman loves HIM’s new music. HIM agrees with Pipeman, saying that the subject of the album is interchangeable with most of human history, but it feels more potent now because of the internet. Pipeman responds, saying that sometimes he thinks they were better off without the internet and social media and not knowing how hateful people were. HIM agrees and adds that it is nice to be able to shut off from the noise if you want to, but it is difficult to have a day where you can escape that kind of information. The conversation takes a lighter turn when Pipeman shares that he was in Bali for a couple of months and how he was able to escape all the noise from social media and the internet. HIM expresses interest in Bali and asks what religion is predominant in Bali. Pipeman says that most of it is Hindu, but they also have Buddhism. He adds that it is cool to see two different philosophies sharing a temple. HIM agrees and shares about multi-faith prayer rooms in museums, where Catholics and Muslims pray together, and says it's a beautiful thing to witness. The conversation ends on a positive note, with both Pipeman and HIM enjoying the exchange of ideas. You can check the band out on social media, via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @Sermonsound if you want to keep up to date with them, and you can be sure to find their music available to purchase from must good music outlets. On March 31st, melodic-melancholic-doom outfit Sermon will release their sophomore album, Of Golden Verse, via Prosthetic Records. Departure is song that was sent “Golden is what I want Sermon to be,” he notes. “It’s got the intricate, indulgent prog thing going on, it’s got a big old chorus and the structure is a bit weird. It keeps going up and up and up. It’s not just verse and chorus. It just keeps climbing. It’s all about the idea of people weighing each other down to get them to think the way they’re thinking. It’s like conversion - you’re constantly weighed down by other people and in the end you give up, and you say, ‘Okay, I agree with you…’ just to end it. That constant weighing down is an abuse of power. So with Golden, the idea is that you’re just raining down gold on this person until they’re completely cast in it.”Pipeman's Power of Music is a music and interview segment of The Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show (#pipemanradio) and from The King of All Festivals while on The Pipeman Radio Tour.  PipemanRadio Interviews alltheprettythings | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 820

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Tristan from Alltheprettythings, a band with some badass and catchy music coming up right now Tristan talks about his background in music and how he became a part of Alltheprettythings. He mentions that he was a touring guitar technician and had put bands together in the past, but they always fell apart. After moving to Wilmington, North Carolina, he became friends with one of the local music shop guys who was building a studio and offered his services. The studio's business partner was the band's other guitar player, Worth, and after meeting each other, they realized that their ideas of what a band should be were aligned. They started creating music together, and when they had a few cohesive tracks, they got a friend to come and do some drums. Afterward, they convinced Jeremy, whom Tristan had met through touring, to join the band. The band now has its unique sound, and while it may not be reinventing the wheel, it has its voice.  PipemanRadio Interviews Steve Zing of Blak29 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2638

Pipemanradio talks with Steve Zing to discuss the music video for "blackout" which will be coming out in April. And as well the current album "The Wating" and all things Blak29 and Steve Zing.Coming from a background boasting such names as Samhain, Mourning Noise, and even the unholy legion that is Danzig, Steve Zing presents a new record from his current band and passion project, Blak29. The upcoming album The Waiting will be released on Cleopatra Records on March 3 and will be available on all streaming platforms. “Bleeding Love” is about the torments of life in this world, whether it be driven by love, anger, or the push and pull of what we are supposed to believe in and the fact that we are to think that someone else's beliefs is the right answer,” says Zing. "Raging Wars in my world, I'm coming back, coming back for more." The song starts off with a driving riff and some grunge-fueled vocals that wouldn’t sound out of place in an amphitheater or a small biker bar. It’s heavy yet catchy—If you aren’t singing along to the refrain by the end of the song, you aren’t doing it right. While other songs on the record lean harder into grooves or heavy riffs, this track has some distinct flavors of Alice in Chains paired with the very unique stylings of Blak29. Featuring Zing on vocals and drums, Dan Tracey bass and guitar, both wrote and produced the album. The songs on this record pick up where the first album left off, but also hit things harder than ever before. Zing also recruited Danzig bandmate Johnny Kelly, Tommy Victor, and Jyrki 69 vocalist of The 69 Eyes, for guest spots on the record. The sampling of songs on the album range from snarling, rock fury to more contemporary thrashers backed by the power of a storied musical career and a full command of the genre.  PipemanRadio Interviews Jon of Mars | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1140

In this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman interviews Jon of Mars. Jon of Mars is an alien who is stuck on Earth in a small town during the COVID-19 lockdown. The concept behind Jon of Mars is an outlet for Jon's curiosity about human behavior and his own feelings of being an alien. Jon believes that his whole life has been a theme of not understanding why people act the way they do. He is a curious mind that wants to understand why things work the way they do and why people do the things that they do. Pipeman and Jon discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the world and how it affected everyone differently. Jon talks about the inspiration behind his album and how he often feels like an alien in different situations. He thinks that the lockdown was the craziest time that the world has had in the last hundred years, and he wanted to capture the weird facets and niche things about human life in such a strange state. As they discuss Jon of Mars's story, Pipeman brings up the TV show "Mork and Mindy," which featured an alien who reported back to his leader about Earthlings and Earth. Jon is not familiar with the show, but he agrees that whoever sent aliens down to Earth during COVID-19 must have thought that people on Earth were kind of whacked out. The interview concludes with Jon discussing his love of music and how it has helped him cope with the difficulties of life. Overall, the conversation between Pipeman and Jon of Mars offers insight into the creative process behind Jon's music and the inspiration behind his unique concept. You can keep up to date with Jon over on Twitch at twitch.tv/jonofmars, and over on facebook.com/marsjonmusicman. The new album drops on 4/20 everywhere so keep an eye out for that and listen to it when it drops, which you can get on the major streaming platforms, as well as in physical form over on bandcamp.JON OF MARS MAKES FIRST CONTACT WITH “RESPITE” OFF “SONGS FROM NOWHERE” (HOLCOMB RECORDS) OUT APRIL 2023Hailing from the red planet, a mysterious creature crawls forth from the farthest depths of the earth to observe the denizens of Earth to decide their ultimate fate, drawn by the curious nuance of human life he seeks to understand the human race…. either to help them find salvation or destruction in their greatest and most universal creation: Music. Jon Of Mars comes forth with punchy groovy, fusion metal that will entertain metalheads across the planet. They have their debut album “Songs from Nowhere” ready for ears and the single “Respite” is going to draw you in.As a concept band, the lyrics are from the point of view of an alien trapped in a small town in the USA during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They’re inspired by the strange things and weird behaviors vocalist/guitarist Barrett Holcomb witnessed from his friends and family during that time, personal experiences from the impersonal view of something that doesn’t understand the culture. In the single, the alien has accessed the internet and is now experiencing the internet culture for the first time and all of the worst things that people become on the internet. Holcomb details the importance of the track:“This was the song that started the band, it was the first part of the project Jordan Karg (drums/keys) approached me with, it was finished in 4 weeks and really got us in the groove for the next few songs. It’s about internet culture and the dangers of not having self-love, or trying to become what you see on the internet.”The album is set to release on April 20th, 2023 via Holcomb Records, and will blast listeners into space with smooth rhythms that will occasionally catch people off guard. All of the music on this was written by throwing dice and using number systems found in nature, like the kind that dictate how trees grow branches. It is recommended for fans of Fear Factory, Korn, and Down.About: Having cut his teeth in the underground metal and punk...

PipemanRadio Interviews Fleishkrieg | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1230

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman interviews the members of the band Fleischkrieg. Pipeman expresses his admiration for their music, which he describes as a combination of industrial metal and new wave. He appreciates that the band has created its own genre, which he finds cool for many reasons. Pipeman often asks bands to describe their genre, and they jokingly refer to their music as power slop, but Fleischkrieg has coined the term brutal wave, which they feel aptly describes their music. Fleischkrieg members credit Thomas for coming up with the term brutal wave, which they initially thought was silly but has since grown on them. When they have to describe their music, publicists ask them to come up with creative and unique genres that often lead to the creation of micro-genres, which Fleischkrieg feels forced to participate in. All the members of the band come from different musical backgrounds, but they share a common love for dance synth, metal, and new wave. This combination of influences led to the creation of their unique genre, brutal wave. Pipeman shares his musical journey with the members of Fleischkrieg, describing how he was a teenager in the 80s and lived on the Sunset Strip, where he encountered the snobbish attitude of US Metalheads towards new wave music. He recalls a funny incident when he discovered and fell in love with Adam and the Ants' Kings of the Wild Frontier, which he describes as one of his favorite albums to date. Pipeman expresses his appreciation for Fleischkrieg, which he believes has allowed him to be a metalhead and a new waiver at the same time, fulfilling his musical dream. Finally, the guys talk about how they come from different musical backgrounds but share a common love for dance synth, metal, and new wave, which led to the creation of their unique sound. You can check the website out at www.fleischkrieg.com, and you can find all of the links to where you can play their music and follow their socials their via their linktree, making spelling that name a whole lot easier! They’re also piloting a programme called backstage where you can unlock exclusive content, kind of like Patreon but using virtual currency, so be sure to keep your eye on that too.FLEISCHKRIEG is the result of a chance encounter between an Uber driver and a drunk passenger partying in Seattle. The driver, Richard Cranor, and the passenger, Thomas Crawford, found themselves kindred spirits through a mutual love of Rammstein and industrial metal. When the opening act dropped out of Thomas’s solo “Ceraphym” show, he invited Richard to perform in their place. Richard agreed with the caveat that Thomas play guitars, and FLEISCHKRIEG was formed. The group, currently based in L.A., cite Rammstein, DK-Zero, Die Krupps, and Lord of the Lost as musical influences. Their moody electronic sound melds industrial metal with darkwave undertones, creating the genre of “Brutalwave”: a blend of new wave, metal guitars, and crushing industrial dance beats andvocals. Now with the addition of Nick Mason on Drums and Kaylie Cortez on synth/keyboards, FLEISCHKRIEG’s live shows are a force to be reckoned with.
