JRPG Report Episode 204 - Nintendo Direct Huge Announcements | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

Who saw this one coming? Not me for sure. This Nintendo Direct blew everyone away with huge JRPG announcements. Two in particular rose above the rest. After many months of speculation, the Chrono Cross Remaster rumor turned out to be true. It's coming in April to the delight of so many. The other blockbuster news was the reveal of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It's only just been announcement but is coming this September to the Switch. But Nintendo wasn't done there. Earthbound, an all time JRPG classic is now available on Nintendo Switch Online along with Earthbound Beginnings. A Live a Live HD-2D remaster is coming to the west for first time and looks very good. Triangle Strategy is getting a new demo you can check out now and carry over your progress into the final game. It's hard to imagine a bigger or better showcase, we were blessed with this one. We had plenty of other news to cover even before the Direct, which means a nice long podcast for your listening pleasure. In podcast news I'm going to make the switch (see what I did there) to Friday releases. Seems like the right thing to in the moment, after a few recent delays and missed news stories. It's not the first time I've moved days, and might not be the last. So look for new episodes each Friday and Sunday Specials about every two weeks (two a month). Thanks for your understanding!  JRPG Report Sunday Special 39 - JRPG Chat with Jake: 2022 Outlook and The Nostalgia Factor | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:21:21

We are thrilled to welcome back Jake to the podcast for this Sunday special. His last appearance was a year ago in our Cold Steel IV spoilercast. This chat won't be that long, but we'll have lots of fun. Topics include: what JRPGs are you looking forward most in 2022, games we are playing now, How big is the nostalgia factor when remembering games, and more.  For a while now on social media, Jake and myself have had a friendly Chrono Cross vs Trigger debate. Well the debate gets ugly today. Just kidding of course, but this platform did allow a back and forth conversation. One in which we understood each other's position and rational. Nothing was settled but it was great to talk about finally. We hope you enjoy this great JRPG conversation.  JRPG Report Episode 203 - Celebrating 25 Years of Final Fantasy VII | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:33:13

It's hard to believe FF VII rocked the JRPG world 25 years ago, but that's where we are. Feel old yet? I'm sure we all have a story or two about this game. One that continues to push boundaries and is more relavent that ever today with it's Remake. I'll share the producers thoughts on this milestone and the series moving forward. Square Enix was busy this week in addition to FFVII happenings. We got a new translated trailer for Triangle Strategy and we will learn what the developers are thinking for FF XIV this month. There's a big sale on the PSN right now with select titles I'll go over. Plus some great stories to share. Thanks for listening as always. *Do not listen to this podcast if you haven't beaten the game. We will talk about it all!* I finally beat The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV a few weeks ago. So that means its spoilercast time! Jake waited patiently for us to talk and boy do we talk. So much so that we had to break it up into two parts.  JRPG Report Episode 199 - Post Holiday Games on Sale | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:46:24

I waited a day for extra content and this what I came up with. It was such a short week of news, but I wanted to pass along all these great games on sale. SO episode 199 is what it is. Hopefully more stories coming next week. With both the E-Shop and PSN store having big holiday sales, I wanted to comb through and pick all the JRPGs out. Some great deals to be had. So increase your backlog today! There were a handful of news worthy stories floating out there, which make up the middle of the show. I wrap things up with a blog by Yoshinori Kitase. He dives into his producer role on Final Fantasy X and X-2. I recently began a replay of X so this was a fun read. Hope you enjoy it too.  JRPG Report Sunday Special Episode 37 - Tales of Arise Spoilercast with Jordan | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:39:03

Warning: The second half of this podcast contains massive spoilers do not listen if you have not beaten the game. However the first half, or 45 minutes, is largely spoiler free discussion of this amazing JRPG. We'll discuss everything we loved, and nitpick all the things we didn't. As two long time Tales fans, we weren't on board with all the changes. But the game shines in most departments. We'll talk about almost everything the game has to offer fans both new and old. Let's wrap up 2021 with a bow. Presenting the JRPG of the Year for 2021 and look ahead to all the confirmed releases for 2022. What a year for our genre it was! First some news: Relayer has a worldwide release date now. It was the original goal for the developers and they'll achieve the goal on March 24, 2022. Dragon Quest X Offline has been delayed to summer in Japan. Does this increase the small chance we will get it in the west? We have a small update on Final Fantasy XVI. In the fact new news is coming in the spring. It was reported development is currently 6 months behind schedule due to corona virus. Let's hope spring brings good news! After a few more short stories, lets talk game of the year. So many great JRPGs were released in 2021 it was hard to choose a winner. I'll go over all the major titles and short list of nominees. The thumbnail gives a hint as to the winner. To wrap up the show, I'll go over every confirmed 2022 title and a few maybes. While not as strong as 2021, next year has plenty of promise!  JRPG Report Episode 195 - FF VII Remake Intergrade Heading to PC | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:54:25

So we waited an extra day for news out of the Video Game Awards. And got a few stories including our lead of Final Fantasy VII Remake finally arriving on PC via the Epic Games Store. But Chrono Cross Remaster was no where to be seen. Seems the rumors will have to wait for now. The added news made for a jam packed show however! We've got new trailers from Atelier Sophie 2 and Monark as well as Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. Lots of info for the Bravely Default mobile game which looks like a worthy addition to the series. No surprisingly Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl have sold like crazy. Plus lots of other great stories to cover, thanks for listening and waiting.  JRPG Report Episode 194 - Rumor: Chrono Cross Remaster is Coming | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:33:09

We've been hearing rumors of this for months: a remaster of Chrono Cross is in the works. What's the evidence for this and is it real? I'll discuss what facts we do know and speculate when this might happen, if it all. It was a light news week, hence the dive into internet rumors. In actual news we have some first details about last week's lead, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters. It sounds like a worthy spin off to the Neptunia series. More characters details have surfaced for Atelier Sophie 2 so I'll share them. At the end I'll go over some more details about what's coming for the podcast in 2022 and how subscriptions are going to work. Nothing is changing far as every week content. But if you want more and want to support the JRPG Report, subs and Patreon will allow you to do so. It will be a fun ride I promise.
