SUNDAY CONFESSIONAL: Holiday Training
Check out this awesome interview that we conducted with our pal Albert Morales before he returned back to the cage at the Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz undercard.
Who says Joe Rogan is the only one to come up with a self-improvement thing. I announce what I'm doing for the month of November that will hopefully have a solid impact on my BJJ game.
Before he returns to the LFA cage next week, our pal Vince Cachero stops by to chat about the biggest improvements in his MMA game, where he finds his motivation, and details what we can expect in his next fight. He also didn't tell us it was the day before his birthday (jerk). Nonetheless, happy birthday Vince.
The art of self-criticism.
A powerlifter who grapples, 'nuff said.
I recall a nice moment from the 20th Anniversary of King of the Cage and talk a little bit about the difficulty of watching a split decision happen to a homie.
One of my favorite questions I like to ask athletes is to describe the moment when they fell in love with the sport of grappling. In this episode, I talk about the moments that played a critical role in my own grappling career.
In a weekly segment, I'll walk you through the ups and downs of my own training regimen. This week is about origin story.
Felipe Fogolin is anxious to return to the EBI stage. He's calm, no doubt, but you can tell that two days out before the big day, he's cracking jokes like he's just biding the time to get back on the mats and showcase his art. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Fogolin's return to the EBI mats now affords him the ability to strike while on the ground. As someone who has competed in mixed martial arts, it might just be another day on the mats, but if his previous EBI appearances are to be any indication, he's sure to bring an epic, athletic, and bold style to the very first 16-man Combat Jiu Jitsu tournament. In our interview today, Fogolin told me about how he was initially skeptical of jiu-jitsu, how he ultimately fell in love with the sport, and even shared the meaning the sport holds to him now after all these years.
Jeremiah Vance is one of the nicest killers I know. Dude always has a smile on his face, perhaps because he wrecks people in competition with some of the most creative subs out there. Jeremiah chats with us right after a killer weekend at Subversiv. He also talks to us about his thoughts on a bogus IBJJF penalty, what it's like training with Tony Ferguson, and an awesome new competition he's got coming up very soon at 10th Planet Murrieta.
Stephen Martinez competes like a madman, just days out before his return to the EBI stage he chats with us about his preparation and why he's looking forward to competing in Combat Jiu Jitsu.
