UNspoiled! The Dresden Files

I thought I had posted this because I DID edit it, but turns out that I had not. So I just had the edited file sitting in my Dropbox like a goddamn goon this entire time. I'M SORRY!

Since Kincaid is brought up in this episode, I thought I was use a recent illustration I saw on Adam Mathison-Sward's Instagram (link here, but be careful because there are lots of spoilers for later books! https://www.instagram.com/swarddraws/) because it's such a great snapshot of both Kincaid and Ivy AND Mister. These chapters are the one in which we get a really vivid flashback to Harry's first training days with Justin Dumorne, and find out just how awful Harry's time in the system was for a man like this to be considered an improvement. Despite the terrible memory, Harry focuses on the positive and uses the power from it to fuel the ability to do a spell, and this could be a gamechanger. I guess we will have to wait and see. If anyone knows who the artist is on this illustration of Butters and Bob, please let me know! It was on a Tumblr account with no accreditation and the OP wasn't the artist, nor did a reverse image search return any results. I just liked it because it's one of a very few illustrations with Butters and Bob together. In these, chapters, Dresden is saved from the Lemurs by our old polka-loving friend, who is wielding Bob like a blacklight for ghosts. Bob makes short work of Harry's attackers and returns Harry's essence back to his body, and then Butters takes Harry to see what's become of his old boarding house. And there, we get to see just how tightly wound Karrin has become since everything has started going down. She didn't' expect Murphy to be holding onto hope that Harry was still alive, and she didn't expect Molly to have gone quite as dark as she seems to have gone. RoShawn doesn't believe that Molly is quite as sinister as everyone else seems to think, but the very fact that they're afraid of her right now is something that breaks her heart.Meanwhile, there's something else brewing that apparently Murphy & Co. don't know about, because they're in the middle of talking when a truck pulls up and lets loose a hail of automatic fire right through the walls and the windows. Harry and Sir Stuart give hot pursuit, but Harry decides to keep investigating despite the approach of dawn, which could utterly destroy him.Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you next week with a new episode!

And life does that cruel thing where it marches on, heedless of the fact that your world has completely shifted and the bottom has fallen out of your stomach. Karrin is contacted by Billy the werewolf, whose pregnant wife has vanished and who was told to find her in case Harry wasn't available. She gets drawn into a major plot involving the Fomor, who we've seen before, and has to see how she will fare as a regular vanilla mortal versus the big bad supernatural...without Harry. I know I've used this illustration of John Marcone by erebus-odora before, but there is just so little artwork out there of him that I think depicts someone truly formidable-looking but also intelligent, and this is personally my favorite depiction I've ever seen. https://www.deviantart.com/erebus-odora/art/Gentleman-Johnny-556397762In this episode, RoShawn and I discuss the two short stories Even Hand, and Love Hurts. I almost skipped Love Hurts because out of all the short stories, it has arguably the least plot influence on any of the main books. Nothing from that story really feels like it comes up again, other than Murphy and Harry being into one another, which we already knew. But I'm a completionist, so I decided to just do it. Even Hand, however, is another kettle of fish entirely. That is a story that shows us the Fomor for the first time and we get some insight into Marcone and his staff, the way he thinks, and just how prepared he is for Dresden, should Dresden make any attempt to come at him. It's fascinating, and really fun, and I'm absolutely dying for another story from his persepective, to be honest.
