When we initially asked that photographer Jamie Bollschweiler to join us for a Bonus Mother’s Day Episode we did so to share her artistic vision, passion for the craft and tenacity. What we didn’t know was that it was in fact the tragedy of losing her own mother that put a camera in Jamie’s hands.

In this episode with NANPA's Dawn Wilson and Wild and Exposed's Ron Hayes and Jason Loftus, Marino explains that the hallmark of a happy photographer is the ability to see the world as an expansive place full of opportunities. Find out what she uses to capture the small scenes she's known for, how the pandemic helped her rethink a big career change, and why she discourages conventions and composition "rules" when she teaches photography. Plus, how her NANPA membership helped when a lens rolled down the hill into a waterfall and came out filled with silt.
Starting his photographic journey in the State of New Jersey, photographer Matthew Sullivan is well ahead of the curve. His knowledge of reptiles and amphibians caught the eye of the Wild and exposed crew but you will find, as Jason and Ron did, that there are much more than herps in this portfolio.

It’s been a minute since the full Wild and Exposed crew has been together. Ron, Jason, Michael and Mark discuss days in the field, pro-tips (some learned the hard way) and Mark’s latest Book project. This weeks episode may get a bit sappy as one of the crew makes a big announcement.
Conservation photographer Noppadol Paothong began photographing prairie chickens on an assignment for a daily newspaper in 2001. As he sat in a blind in the dark that morning, he had no idea that he’d be so captivated by the prairie chickens’ mating dance that he’d devote the next ten years to creating a book to tell their story.
Michael and Ron are joined by Editor Tracie Binkerd and Artistic Director/visual specialist Patrick Owen from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Wyoming Wildlife Magazine, the best deal in wildlife periodicals.
Jason and Ron catch up with Michael after he returns from a frosty assignment on the tundra. How do you stay warm at -45F, and more importantly, how do you keep your cameras running and batteries charged? Michael has the answers to these questions and many more.
It’s fitting that as we come off of St. Patrick’s Day Weekend we host one of the luckiest photographers in the industry. Based out of the Pacific Northwest photographer Max Waugh has had encounters most of us only dream about. Max has photographed wildlife all over the world but the encounters that he shares with Jason and Ron will have you shaking your head as Max seems to hit the field with his four leaf clover laden camera bag in tow on each and every excursion. Keep Siri on Standby and Alexa at the ready as you will undoubtedly learn a new species or two this week with the Wild and Exposed Crew.
