Learning to surf can be intimidating! Especially for women who already know their male counter parts to be passionate about "their" sport and even a little aggressive at times. That's why in this episode, Coach Chris sits down with Zippy Seven, a surfer girl with a cool and casual style in and out of the water, to talk all about learning how to surf when you're a bit sensitive to the fact that you're a female...and a kook.

Welcome back to another episode of KookCast! This week Coach Chris & Coach Evan are talking about some fears that arise as you begin your journey learning how to surf, which also reminded them of their own stories about dealing with some of these things. This week, Coach Chris & Coach Evan stay up late to talk surf strategy, specifically dealing with crowded line ups. This episode was a pleasure to record because it was accomplished while sitting outside on a beautiful Puerto Rican evening accompanied by the native nocturnal creatures. You don't have to listen closely to hear the symphony of crickets & coquis that surround them. So imagine yourself sitting there with your surf coaches as they discuss their favorite strategies for dealing with crowds.

Tune in and hear a little bit about the two older surfers, Mike Edwards and Mike Etersque, who were there to guide, support, and inspire your two favorite surf coaches during their grom years. A lot is owed to those two surfing inspirations.

In this episode, they discuss the outcomes and situations that ensue when you improperly set, or fail to set your rail. It seems to us that many people think that surfing is all about riding waves. Anyone ever advise you while learning to surf to make sure your pop up is fast? We hear it all the time, and Coach Chris and Coach Evan can't help but disagree on this approach to learning. While there certainly is a time and a place in surfing for a quick and agile pop up, in this episode we explore our take on why you might want to try slowing it down a bit.
