This month, we're bringing you audio from our new talk show, Conversations with the Council - an informal discussion about current events in Lacey, hosted by Jenny Bauersfeld Lacey City Councilmembers Carolyn Cox and Lenny Greenstein are joined by City Manager Scott Spence and Community and Economic Development Director Rick Walk to discuss the City of Lacey's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On this episode of Lacey Comprehensive, Jenny is joined by a new host, Economic Development Coordinator George Smith. George and Jenny talk to Sara Porter and Amy Hatch-Winecka from the Thurston Regional Planning Council about the US Census. We're also joined by Keylee Marineau from Thurston County, and Lacey Associate Planner Jessica Brandt to talk about the recent Point In Time count.

Jenny and Rick talk to Lacey Timberland Library Manager Holly Paxson about the 2020 Lacey Loves to Read events and the upcoming remodel of the Lacey Library. Water Resources Specialist Linsey Fields talks to us about F.O.G.: fats, oils and grease, and why it's important to properly dispose of them. We also learn about the City's efforts to make it easy to build Accessory Dwelling units from Associate Planner Jessica Brandt. 

Today on Lacey Comprehensive, we're joined by Chief Semko of the Lacey Police Department. We discuss the department's public saftey efforts and explain the effects of several new ordinances.

This week we're joined by the City of Lacey's Emergency Management and Safety Coordinator, Don Noyes. He tells us how the City prepares for emergencies, and how you can prepare at home. We're then joined by John Dodge, author of A Deadly Wind: The 1962 Columbus Day Storm. He talks about the windstorm and its effect on the area. Dodge will give a reading from his book at Lacey City Hall on the anniversary of the storm, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 1:30pm, sponsored by the Lacey Museum.

This month, Jenny and Rick have a conversation with Michael Cade, Executive Director of the Thurston Economic Development Council (thurstonedc.com), about what the EDC does and how their programs impact the community.
