How to Live Forever (or at least longer) with Sanjay Gupta | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:41:02

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is on the podcast today! And it's true that he practically needs no introduction, but I'll go ahead and introduce him anyway ;) I'm very excited to share this interview with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Yep, if that name sounds familiar, that's because you definitely know him. Dr. Gupta is the multiple Emmy-award winning chief medical correspondent for CNN. He's a practicing neurosurgeon & is a staple on CNN to report on health and medical news for all of their shows domestically and internationally. And Dr. Gupta's most recent series with CNN is called Chasing Life. “Chasing Life” is a six-part series where Sanjay shares the secrets he’s learned to living a longer, healthier life through his travels for this show. He heads to Bolivia, Japan, Turkey, India, Italy and Norway, to explore the sometimes peculiar traditions and modern practices used to fight disease, manage stress, and attain happiness. I talk with Dr. Gupta about all kinds of topics: - How we can improve our longevity - How to combat the appeal of junk food - The correlation between longevity and equal treatment of women - Common habits Americans share with these cultures who seem to have a good balance - And I even got him to tell me what his biggest indulgence would be if all food was healthy and there was no such thing as disease... - We talk about all that & so much more in today's episode. So, sit back, enjoy, & don't forget to check out Chasing Life on CNN with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Enjoy! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/badyogi/support

Jessamyn Stanley: Mixing Ego, Business, & Yoga | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:50:56

Jessamyn Stanley is our guest today! Fun fact: this is the first episode I recorded as a MOM. That fact is totally irrelevant to today's episode, but still a fun little side track. If you're new around here, I just had a baby 6 weeks ago & his name is Theo... my husband ended up taking him out for a walk while I had this interview which is also the first time I do an official "work" thing since his birth. Time flies, I'm telling you... Speaking of getting back to work, what an easy, warm welcome I had back with this interview with Jessamyn Stanley who is SO lovely I can't even tell you... If you don't know who she is, lemme give you some background. Jessamyn's a yogi who breaks all the stereotypes, has built a life as an internationally recognized yoga teacher and award-winning Instagram star by combining a deep understanding for yoga with a willingness to share her personal struggles in a way that touches everyone who comes to know her. She got dragged to a yoga class by her Aunt, hated it, then ended up revisiting & falling in love with it later on. We talk about a whole range of things: - A little about her yoga journey - How we feel about our egos being yogis and businesswomen - How she stays inspired to remain authentic on social media - And yes, even that infamous Yoga Journal cover incident Enjoy! For more from Jessamyn, follow her on Instagram & learn more about her monthly yoga subscription, book, and where she teaches on her website. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/badyogi/support

Liesel Teen: How to Birth It Up Like a Total BOSS | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:54:46

Liesel Teen, also known as @mommy.labornurse, is today's guest. She's a labor & delivery nurse turned blogger. I started following her a couple months ago for her super fun facts about birth & pregnancy. I LOVED her stuff on Instagram & later learned she had this course called Birth It Up which preps you for a natural delivery in a hospital. This was my intention going into birth, so I got the course (which is INSANELY affordable, BTW), LOVED it, & knew I had to have her on the podcast. I bought the course with my own money and she had no idea who I was. I reached out to her to introduce myself & invite her on and that was that, so all opinions are truly my own.  But a little more about Liesel... She's a labor and delivery nurse from North Carolina, and her page is dedicated to educating moms-to-be about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and motherhood! She uses her knowledge as a labor and delivery nurse (and as a fellow mom herself) to spread awareness and help mamas understand what’s to come. Whether you're currently pregnant, want to get pregnant soon or someday in the distant future, are the partner to someone who qualifies as either of those things, OR you're just fascinated by the magic of our bodies and want to learn more, this episode is for YOU. That's enough outta me-- let's turn it over to Liesel. Follow Liesel on Instagram for all her free tips too. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/badyogi/support

The Angry Therapist: Building Your Life Purpose & Relationship Real Talk | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:01

The Angry Therapist, also known as John Kim, is today's guest and is basically to therapy who I am to yoga. For some context, John is a licensed therapist, published author, speaker, and life coach. But he started a blog called The Angry Therapist as a place to be himself without a filter while he was going through a divorce. It turned into something people really resonated with because typically people don't see therapists as real people with real feelings. He didn't want to be that guy. He blogged about his shortcomings, revelations, and his views on relationships, the self help business, and the world. He found CrossFit, bought a motorcycle, and started coaching people in unconventional ways. I don't know if you've noticed this, but therapists are having a moment on Instagram. And when I was looking for an interesting person in this field to bring on to talk about important issues, I found a lot of people, but not a lot of INTERESTING people... then I found John and I was like OH! THIS is our guy! He's a lot more transparent than traditional therapists and doesn't put himself on a pedestal at all. We had a really interesting chat about relationships and after changing gears, how to build your purpose in life. It's a great show & I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  To find out more from John, follow him on Instagram @theangrytherapist and head to his website for more about his books, podcast, and services. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/badyogi/support

How to Get Unstuck & Show Up As Your True Self w/Jator Pierre | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4154

Today's episode is one I thought I'd literally never do. I'm interviewing a life coach. I know, I know. Eye roll, right? But here's my thought process: as I was looking for interesting people to talk to, I came across this guy named Jator Pierre who was actually recommended to me from JP Sears. So already that's one level of skepticism removed. Anyway, back to my thought process... lately I've been thinking that maybe *some* of the things I roll my eyes at are actually some of the things I need to hear. Or at least need to be OPEN to hearing. And I think that's the case with a lot of us, too. The stuff we passionately reject or shy away from are exactly the things we need to be open to. Jator has been in the practice of transforming lives since 1999. Using a vast toolbox of modalities to bring about lasting change in his clients, his work in emotional trauma and chronic stress is really on display in our talk today. He's passionate about seeing the bigger picture and how that trickles down to the underlying mechanisms which lead to all kinds of imbalance in our lives, both physical and emotional. His purpose is to help people examine and understand not only how the body functions, but how each physical symptom correlates to and is expressive of underlying mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns. Jator works globally through Skype and currently lives in Copenhagen Denmark after moving just a few weeks ago on pure gut instinct. In today's episode, we're talking about... - Non-aspirational morning routines - The point of having a life coach & why some people need one (ie: he explains to me why it's not a bunch of BS) - How to deal with toxic relationships - How to re-parent yourself as an adult & create a more functional relationship with your parents - How to show up as your TRUE self in ALL your relationships - How do you know when it's time to move on from a job OR muster the patience to keep going? - Why language is important and how to make "mistakes" more empowering - How to see when you're living in what Jator calls "control dramas" - One thing most people need guidance with - How to get out of a funk/a rut Follow Jator on Instagram @explorewithjator and on YouTube by clicking here. You can even get your own coaching session with him on his website, https://wehlc.com/origins/ Enjoy the episode & let us know what you think! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/badyogi/support

Sound Baths: A Better Way to Meditate with Sara Auster | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:33:26

I am loving today's episode because it's actually a little interactive. The very best kind of episodes are, in my opinion :) Have you ever heard of sound baths? If not, don't worry-- I'm gonna play you a little sample by my incredibly talented guest, Sara Auster. She's a sound therapist & meditation teacher. Using a holistic approach to well-being with the transformative power of music and sound, her carefully crafted experiences allow sound to be used as a tool to access meditative states, support self-inquiry, cultivate deep relaxation, and inspire meaningful connection and change. She's been invited to speak about mindfulness and sound for companies such as Google, Microsoft and American Express. Her work has been featured in global media outlets including: The New York Times, Time Magazine, Vice, Quartz and Billboard Magazine and was named a top meditation teacher by Oprah Magazine in 2016. In today's episode we talk about... - What to expect in a sound bath - Why a sound bath isn't just meditation - How people with hearing loss can benefit - Most transformative experiences - How to enjoy a sound bath at home Plus, Sara let us grab a sample of her work to share with you! It's a good episode, friends. Enjoy!  Practical Numerology with Felicia Bender | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:52:06

Today's episode is a little controversial, apparently! I didn't intend for it to be when I invited our guest, but when I asked the community for your questions for her, that's when I realized this was a touchy subject. Today I have Felicia Bender to talk about her style of numerology which she calls Practical Numerology. I got tons of questions but a fair amount of pushback from people saying this is BS or it's evil or it conflicts with Christianity-- all kinds of stuff.  Personally, I found this super interesting & fun to learn about! I didn't feel like it conflicted with my beliefs at all. I take these things lightly and approach them with an open, curious mind. If you can manage to do that, I think you'll enjoy this episode a lot :) We talk about... - What IS Numerology - How it's used - How to calculate your own Life Path Number - The significance behind seeing 11:11 & other numbers - And how to find out more if you're interested :) Enjoy the episode! We'd love to hear your thoughts on this one! Did you find it interesting? Fun? Or total nonsense? Regardless of where you stand, try to be respectful in expressing your opinions ;) To learn more from Felicia, head to her website: https://feliciabender.com/ Or find her on Instagram for more inspo: @feliciabender --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/badyogi/support

Body Positivity is such a loaded topic! I've been putting off recording this episode for a few weeks now because I really didn't know how to approach it.  28 Questions I've Never Been Asked w/Erin Motz (Husband Interviewed Me!) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3052

We had an idea to do an episode where Adrien (my husband & co-founder of Bad Yogi) interviews me as a "guest." This was exceptionally hilarious and fun because as the person who knows me netter than anyone, his questions were GOOD. In this episode we talk about... - The biggest mistake I've made with Bad Yogi - Advice for people wanting to do what I do - What I like most & least about the yoga community - Dealing with the fear of what other people think - What I wish people understood - How to separate ego from what I do - Weight loss ...and so much more than I'll type here!
