Return Of The Student Jon Hammond Visit With Tony Germain HD 1080p | File Type: video/quicktime | Duration: Unknown

*WATCH THE VIDEO HERE: Return Of The Student Jon Hammond Visit With Tony Germain Jon's archive http://archive.org/details/ReturnOfTheStudentJonHammondVisitWithTonyGermainHD1080p Jon Hammond visit with his piano teacher Tony Germain: "So good to see my piano teacher main man Tony Germain 40 years later from the first day we met on Scheduling Day 1973, looking good Tony! Greatest piano and Hammond organ teacher folks! Tony taught so many players well and created the organ department (long story!) Chairing the PIano Department, (he has a nice chair in his office and superb Steinway Grand Piano) - if you are lucky enough to be a student at Berklee and get to study with Tony Germain, then you are living under the lucky star - Tony is the Man!! Thanks for everything you showed me Tony, straightened me out big time" - Jon Hammond *Return of the Student - Here I am with my Piano Teacher main man Tony Germain 40 years to the day later from the first time we sat down together folks - interview coming soon, many thanks Tony! Jon Hammond http://www.berklee.edu/people/tony-germain Position: Assistant Chair Department: Piano "I think I might have been one of Berklee's first graduates with what today is called the performance major in piano. So as assistant chair, I have a vested interest in making sure we're still preparing piano, keyboard, and organ students, without being in any way style prejudiced. I also took the position to have a little bit more involvement with the curriculum—to see what I could personally add or help create." "When I went to Berklee, Ted Pease, Phil Wilson, and Mike Rendish were my role models and my teachers. They set the standard for what I'd become and how I would teach. They were all very good to me, and I could see how much they loved it. Here at Berklee, I'm giving back to something that has given me everything. I often describe Berklee as a musical Fantasy Island. I just don't know where else I'd be happy." "Prior to becoming assistant chair of the Piano Department, I taught pretty much everything across the board for 33 years: harmony, ear training, arranging, ensembles. I created the Harmonic Ear Training course and taught it from about 1978 until I became assistant chair. I'm equally in love with private and classroom teaching, and have done it all my adult life. I probably get more out of it than my students do. But hopefully I inspire students to further their interests in whichever style of performance they desire—it's my job to prepare them for the long haul. I still teach Survey of Piano Styles: History of Jazz Piano. I didn't want to give it up. And I didn't want to not teach entirely, because you lose touch if you're out of the classroom." He was nicknamed "The Judge" Hinton was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he resided until age eleven when he moved to Chicago, Illinois. He attended Wendell Phillips High School and Crane Junior College. While attending these schools, he learned first to play the violin, and later bass horn, tuba, cello and the double bass. As a young violinist out of school, he found gainful employment as a bassist. He later recounted in interviews, released in 1990 on Old Man Time, how this prompted him to switch to double bass. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, he worked as a freelance musician in Chicago. During this time, he worked with famous jazz musicians such as Jabbo Smith, Eddie South, and Art Tatum. In 1936, he joined a band led by Cab Calloway. Members of this band included Chu Berry, Cozy Cole, Dizzy Gillespie, Illinois Jacquet, Jonah Jones, Ike Quebec, Ben Webster, and Danny Barker. Hinton possessed a formidable technique and was equally adept at bowing, pizzicato, and "slapping," a technique for which he became famous while playing with the big band of Cab Calloway from 1936 to 1951.[1] Unusually for a double bass player, Hinton was frequently given the spotlight by Calloway, taking virtuose bass solos in tunes like "Pluckin' the Bass." Hinton played a rare Gofriller Double Bass during his latt

They are characterised by a long beak and large throat pouch used in catching prey and draining water from the scooped up contents before swallowing. They have predominantly pale plumage, the exceptions being the Brown and Peruvian Pelicans. The bills, pouches and bare facial skin of all species become brightly coloured before the breeding season. The eight living pelican species have a patchy global distribution, ranging latitudinally from the tropics to the temperate zone, though they are absent from interior South America as well as from polar regions and the open ocean. Fossil evidence of pelicans dates back at least 30 million years, to the remains of a beak very similar to that of modern species recovered from Oligocene strata in France. Long thought to be related to frigatebirds, cormorants, tropicbirds, gannets and boobies, pelicans are now known instead to be most closely related to the Shoebill and Hamerkop, and are placed in the order Pelecaniformes. Ibises, spoonbills and herons are more distant relatives, and have been classified in the same order. Pelicans frequent inland and coastal waters where they feed principally on fish, catching them at or near the water surface. Gregarious birds, they often hunt cooperatively and breed colonially. Four white-plumaged species tend to nest on the ground, and four brown or grey-plumaged species nest mainly in trees. The relationship between pelicans and people has often been contentious. The birds have been persecuted because of their perceived competition with commercial and recreational fishers. They have suffered from habitat destruction, disturbance and environmental pollution, and three species are of conservation concern. They also have a long history of cultural significance in mythology, and in Christian and heraldic iconography. The genus Pelecanus was first formally described by Linnaeus in 1758, in the tenth edition of his Systema Naturae. He described the distinguishing characteristics as a straight bill hooked at the tip, linear nostrils, a bare face, and fully webbed feet. This early definition included frigatebirds, cormorants, and sulids as well as pelicans.[1] The name comes from the Ancient Greek word pelekan (πελεκάν),[2] which is itself derived from the word pelekys (πελεκυς) meaning "axe".[3] In classical times, the word was applied to both the pelican and the woodpecker.[4] Taxonomy[edit source | editbeta] Main article: Pelecaniformes#Systematics and evolution Pelicans give their name to the Pelecaniformes, an order which has had a varied taxonomic history. Tropicbirds, darters, cormorants, gannets, boobies and frigatebirds, all traditional members of the order, have si

One of the original prototypes still survives and was raced by British Touring car champion Bernard Unett.[6] The car made extensive use of components from other Rootes Group vehicles and was built on a modified floorpan from the Hillman Husky estate car.[4] The running gear came mainly from the Sunbeam Rapier, but with front disc brakes replacing the saloon car's drums. An overdrive unit and wire wheels were optional. The suspension was independent at the front using coil springs and at the rear had a live axle and semi-elliptic springing. The Girling-manufactured brakes used 9.5 in (241 mm) disc at the front and 9 in (229 mm)drums at the rear. Coupe versions of the post-1959 version were built by Thomas Harrington Ltd. Someday I would like to have an office there - Jon Hammond http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Building The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper in New York City, located on the east side of Manhattan in the Turtle Bay area at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. At 1,046 feet (319 m),[1][6][7] the structure was the world's tallest building for 11 months before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931.[8] It is still the tallest brick building in the world, albeit with an internal steel skeleton. After the destruction of the World Trade Center, it was again the second-tallest building in New York City until December 2007, when the spire was raised on the 1,200-foot (365.8 m) Bank of America Tower, pushing the Chrysler Building into third position. In addition, The New York Times Building, which opened in 2007, is exactly level with the Chrysler Building in height.[9] Both buildings were then pushed into 4th position, when the under construction One World Trade Center surpassed their height. The Chrysler Building is a classic example of Art Deco architecture and considered by many contemporary architects to be one of the finest buildings in New York City. In 2007, it was ranked ninth on the List of America's Favorite Architecture by the American Institute of Architects.[10] It was the headquarters of the Chrysler Corporation from 1930 until the mid-1950s. Although the building was built and designed specifically for the car manufacturer, the corporation did not pay for the construction of it and never owned it, as Walter P. Chrysler decided to pay for it himself, so that his children could inherit it Tallest in the world from May 27, 1930

After the German reunification he relocated the company"s headquarters to Markneukirchen in the Vogtland region in 1994. He then started an endeavor to bring new life to his father´s lifework - Fred Wilfer had bought back the apparently worthless trademark rights from the liquidator and gave them as a present to his son shortly before his death. An appreciation for Fred Wilfer´s merits was missing so far. The history and development after the Second World War was fascinating the historian Dr. Christian Hoyer who tried to find out more on the history of the resettlement of the Schoenbach violin-makers. Meanwhile the public interest in the Framus brand had risen and old Framus instruments, due to their high realizable value and their remarkable sound properties, were partly sold to considerable prices in the vintage market. Reason enough for Hans-Peter Wilfer to support Hoyer´s research. So, historian Dr. Christian Hoyer was engaged to conduct research in relation to the Framus subject. Wilfer and Hoyer had a meeting in 2001. As a consequence Warwick has endorsed Hoyer´s search for evidence about the past manufacturing in Bubenreuth, something that has taken him already all around the world. Definitely not an easy undertaking, because the company´s archives don´t exist anymore since the liquidation. This endeavor turned into a bigger challenge: ads were placed that stated the need for information and witnesses of that time. Warwick then allocated the necessary funds to buy up old and interesting instrument in order to gain an overview of the company´s manufacturing. But many people helped in the process of filling in the gaps: former co-workers, musicians and endorsers involved with the company, music-loving collectors and many others. This labored and intense phase also included looking in the archives of states, courts, associations and organizations. Even guitarist and former endorser Billy Lorento, who nowadays works as a consultant - under the name Bill Lawrence - for the Fender® Corporation and enjoys his high profile as "King Of Pickups", contributed his part to the story. When a collection of instruments and documents was finally achieved, it was too hard to deny this knowledge to the public: It was decided that a book be made about Fred Wilfer and the Framus company and that the aforementioned collection was to be displayed and open to the public in a museum dedicated to the history of the Framus factory. The history project of the Warwick company that Hans-Peter Wilfer started in order to revive the Framus brand now reaches the culmination of all the efforts with the opening of the Framus Museum and the publication of a book on the history of Framu
