Loren Cunningham Presents I Am A Missionary, UofN Workshop Report, YWAM Flying Car Update, October Justice Awareness Month | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 31:26

This week Loren Cunningham presents us with the video "I Am A Missionary". I also had a chance to interview Raymond Siebring about the YWAM Flying Car and the Aviation Education Institute. We will hear a report from the UofN Workshop, find out about the October Justice Awareness Month by Steps of Justice, hear about Freedom61, which is an outreach to victims of Human Trafficking in Latvia, and more ... Stories: I Am A Missionary - Loren Cunningham Loren Cunningham presented this video, “I Am A Missionary” to leaders at the recent University of the Nations Workshop in Mexico. Although I was not in attendance at the workshop I was extremely moved upon watching the video for the first time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gSuxP9wza4 My favourite response was recorded by one of the people attending the conference: When Loren presented this video to all the UofN leaders recently, we responded with a standing ovation. Many in that huge hall have faced tremendous difficulties, insurmountable odds, and some had even been imprisoned and interrogated… but every hand was raised in response to the call to missions. You can find out more about the video over on ywam.org (http://www.ywam.org/blog/2013/09/16/i-am-a-missionary-video/). UofN Workshop Report The University of the Nations Workshop that was held in San Antonio Del Mar, Mexico finished up on the night of Saturday, 7 September, 2013. From the sounds of it the workshop was a fantastic event, with lots of great content and opportunities for networking... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB43ATZcEc4 A lot of the sessions during the workshop can we watched on the UofN Workshop website at www.uofnworkshop.com (http://www.uofnworkshop.com/). The health worker there is the only health care worker in a 15-mile radius, and she plays the roles of paramedic, doctor, nurse, and transport coordinator. YWAM Ships Australia was able to set up a Primary Health Care clinic in Kopi to help her with support and training. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Gal. 6:9-10) From www.ywamsanfrancisco.org/ (http://www.ywamsanfrancisco.org/) Solar Powered Dental Chair in PNG (http://ywampodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Solar-Powered-Dental-Chair-in-PNG.jpg) In a country with only 17 dentists, and a population of 6.3 million people, Papua New Guinea is in desperate need for dental services. One of the ways that YWAM Ships Australia has been able to help with this is by the donation of a solar powered dental chair. The solar powered dental chair folds down into a 15kg backpack and includes a portable dental chair, a hand drill, pneumatic foot-operated speed control pedal, instrument tray, and solar panel. In the first 14-days of being used the chair had already been used to assist with 426 patients. The local community health and dental worker is able to now do complicated extractions and fillings in the villages of the PNG Gulf Province. http://www.ywamships.org.au/2013/06/solar-powered-dental-chair/ (http://www.ywamships.org.au/2013/06/solar-powered-dental-chair/) YWAM Turner Valley Floods and SBS (http://ywampodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/YWAM-Turner-Valley-Alberta-Flooding-Letters-300x224.jpg) Last month Southern Alberta has hit by flash flooding that turned what is usually a tranquil river near the YWAM centre in Turner Valley into a raging river. The Sheep River overflowed it's banks and took out a forest on the property as well as a building designated for prayer. The flooding also caused a puncture to a gas pipe near the YWAM Centre. This lead to an immediate evacuation of all the surrounding properties, including the YWAM Centre. The staff and students are now back at the centre are working on cleaning the property and hopefully eventually rebuilding their "prayer shack". (more (http://ywamturnervalley.org/summer-2013-newsletter/)) Around the same time as the flooding YWAM Turner Valley was also busy running a School of Biblical Studies (SBS). The goal of the School of Biblical Studies is to equip students to study and understand the content of the Bible. The content is covered in the student’s independent study and class lectures. The student uses the inductive method to study the whole Bible. This approach allows the Scripture to speak for itself and studies Scripture in context. http://ywamturnervalley.org/sbs/ (http://ywamturnervalley.org/sbs/) YWAM Flood Relief in Himalayan India (http://ywampodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/newsletter-for-Uttarakhand-791x1024.jpg) While Southern Alberta digs itself out of their floods severe flooding has inundated the India Himalayan state of Uttarakhand. There are over 5000 people are dead, 11,000 people missing, and more than 30-thousand people are homeless. YWAM Dehrandun is engaged in providing flood relief for the some of the affected people.

Stories: YWAM Megacities Next Target City - Kolkata, India (http://ywampodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/megacities-logo-main.jpg)Our next Megacity is now announced! Kolkata, capital of the Indian state of West Bengal and located on the east bank of the Hooghly river, is East India's principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre. Kolkata was established by the East India Company and was regarded as the second city of the British Empire after London. The urban agglomeration of Kolkata and its suburbs is home to approximately 14.1 million, making it the 3rd most metropolis area in India. As a growing metropolitan city in a developing country, Kolkata has substantial urban pollution, traffic congestion, poverty, overpopulation, and other socio-economic problems. What is Megacities? Interesting, random fact: The Kolkata Football League is the oldest (soccer) league in Asia and one of the oldest in the World. It was started by the British in 1898. Teams can start arriving in April 2014 for enquiries contact them on www.megacities.org.au (http://www.megacities.org.au/). (http://ywampodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/YWAM-Kickoff-2014-Infographic-67x300.jpg)YWAM Kickoff 2014 Although the Football (soccer) Worldcup isn't until 2014 the YWAM Kickoff World Cup 2014 outreach is starting to gear up for their first outreach. In June Brazil will be hosting the FIFA 2013 Confederations Cup, which is viewed by many as a test drive for the Wordcup next year. The Kickoff team will also be using the Confederations Cup as a dress rehearsal of their own with plans for evangelism, prayer corners, sports camps, and more being planned for the event. The FIFA Worldcup will be the main event, with a desire for teams to come from all over the world to join in this major outreach. For the main event during the FIFA Worldcup Kickoff 2014 is wanting to mobilise 64,000 missionaries from around the world to join in the event at any of the different host locations. The focus areas for the outreach are: * Arts * Prayer * Social Justice * Youth and Children * General missions and Service * Sports You can find out more about the event, and how or your team can get involved, at www.ywamkickoff2014.com (http://www.ywamkickoff2014.com/). Rugby Plus Program in Fiji In addition to YWAM Hockey that we talked about on the last YWAM Podcast, another exciting way that YWAM has been using sports as a tool for discipleship and evangelism is the Rugby Plus Program in Fiji. The program consists of a workshop that includes guest speakers, coaches, players and pastors. The participants receive spiritual, physical and mental training during the workshop. They addressed a few specific issues such as anger management, sportsmanship, player productivity and team bonding. You can read more about the program, and the influence of Christians in Fijian Rugby at www.fijitimes.com. (http://www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=232409&utm_source=feedly) YWAM's University of the Nations Workshop 2013 The University of the Nations will be hosting their 2013 workshop in San Antonio Del Mar, Mexico from September 3 - September 8, 2013. The Effects of Extreme Isolation In episode 57 of the YWAM Podcast (http://ywampodcast.com/pope-francis-and-ywam-my-pacific-hope-leaves-for-the-philippines-and-reaching-out-to-persecuted-christians-in-pakistan/) we talked about two of YWAM's sailing vessels focussing on the area of Micronesia for their outreach efforts. While it may be hard for us to understand how isolated these places are, and how hard it is on the people on those islands, I kind of started to grasp it while reading one of the more recent updates from the YWAM Ships OC web-site: (http://ywampodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Heading-to-Fanning-150x150.jpg)One thing that hit me like a brick after talking to nurses here today, in addition to all the others experiencing problems with transportation, is the direct effect on access to medical care.  Not having ships is the single largest limitation for people receiving available treatment.  Every conversation I had with dentists, nurses, medical assistants, the TB nurse, the public health nurse, all of them explained the reason they cannot treat people is that they cannot get to Christmas Island from Fanning and Washington even if they are sick.  The boat only goes a couple of times a year.  So, if someone is sick they have to survive somehow on their isolated island.  Even if they managed get to Christmas Island for treatment, they can¹t get home again for 3 or more months and the hospital has to pay them money for them to live on while the wait and wait for the next ship. You can read the full update on their web-site, www.ywamships.net (http://ywamships.net/2013/04/isolation/). Thank You from YWAM Africa for all the Volunteers A thank you from Kobus van Niekerk, a lead elder with Youth With A Mission in Africa.
